  • Small CAMC members-only site just off the A559 in Cheshire
  • Delamere Forest 20 minutes' drive; half an hour to Chester
  • In the grounds of a popular family-run gastropub with beer garden
A pitch, a pie and a pint all in the same location? Yes, it's all here at the Antrobus Arms Certified Location, a quiet site in the grounds of a family-run Cheshire gastropub. The touring pitches here are reserved for Caravan and Motorhome Club members only, and set up with self-contained units in mind. That means you'll have access to a chemical disposal point but no bathroom facilities other than the pub toilets (during opening hours). Access to this small and well-kept site in the village of Antrobus is nice and easy, as it's just off the A559 about 10 minutes' drive from Northwich. The M6 and M56 are fairly close by as well, so journeys in and out should be fairly simple. And of course, all of that means you'll be in a handy location for all sorts of days out as well, whether you're planning rural rambles, family days out or city days in the likes of Liverpool and Manchester. The big highlight here is of course the pub – a classic country inn with a cosy wooden-beamed interior and a lovely beer garden for the summer. The menu of homemade dishes has been nominated for awards, and there are regular themed specials including steak nights, fish-and-chips Fridays and a much-loved Sunday roast. You're more than welcome just to stop in for a pint of local ale too if you prefer (bringing your dog in too if you like). If you're staying here in early November you might just catch a performance from the Antrobus Soul Cakers, a group reviving an ancient tradition to raise money for charity.

Local attractions

Fancy working up an appetite for your evening pie with a good walk or bike ride? Delamere Forest (20 minutes' drive) is a good place to start, with over 2,000 acres to explore and a Go Ape treetop course for those who'd like a bit more adventure. The six-mile Whitegate Way from Cuddington (15 minutes) is another good option for walking or cycling, and Marbury Country Park (five minutes) is popular with birdwatchers– look out for reed warblers and kingfishers among the woods and reedbeds. Keeping it local, you may like to explore places like the Lion Salt Works (five minutes), the country's last-remaining open-pan salt works, or pop in to Blakemere Village (20 minutes) for artisan shops, a miniature railway and lots of family-friendly activities (crafts, crazy golf, archery and falconry displays among them). Looking further afield, you could visit Chester (half an hour), for the zoo and the historic city centre, or spend some time in either Liverpool or Manchester (both about 45 minutes).
