  • Well maintained peaceful park
  • Playdale Farm Park 10 minutes’ drive; Scarborough 20 minutes
  • Play area, games room and indoor pool; restaurant and bar; launderette
Whether you’re after a hiking holiday, a spot of birdwatching or bracing good times at the seaside, coastal North Yorkshire always delivers. And at Spring Willows Caravan Park, you’re well placed for all these activities – and more besides. This family- and dog-friendly site sits close to the junction of the A64, which takes you straight into Scarborough (20 minutes’ drive), and the A1039, which you can follow all the way to Filey (15 minutes). From there, you can choose to spend a day at sandy, expansive Filey Beach, or head to Filey Brigg, a narrow, ragged promontory where there are reliable sightings of migratory and breeding birds. So that’s the beaches and birdwatching taken care of. As for the hiking, Filey Brigg marks the end (or the start) of the Yorkshire Wolds Way, a long-distance route crossing spectacular valleys, woodland and chalk hills. On site, grass pitches come with splendid views of the surrounding fields, and facilities include an indoor pool, a gym, a games room and a fenced-off children’s play area with climbing structures. If you’re into experimenting with your G&Ts, the S Club Bar and Restaurant has a pretty decent selection of gins. (How decent? Well, you might find it hard to work your way through the entire menu during your stay here…) If you fancy sipping your drink under a canopy of stars, the outdoor seating area has heat lamps and warm throws. A modern and pristine toilet block with hot-water showers (plus facilities for disabled guests), a washing-up area and a launderette complete the picture.

Non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked: A brilliant location to camp 🏕️ with stunning views.
The hostess , bubbly brown hair lady ( didn’t catch her name 🙈) was the loveliest lady ever, so warm and welcoming and pure joy!
The food in the bar is absolutely amazing pub food, all freshly made and super tasty , 🤤 great selection of drinks and weekend entertainment too. Nicely thought out so the kids can play safely in the park too.
Lovely sized swimming pool with hot tub and sauna which were all perfect temperatures- the kids loved the pool and wanted it all day.
Great location to pop into Scarborough.
The kids are already asking when we can go back.
Could do with just a few more hooks and baskets in the showers to hang things up.
Great campsite for families.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Easy to find, seamless check in and helpful team. Generous size pitches. We didn't use the club and pool but nice to know it was an option. Laundry facilities if needed. Pretty quiet site which is good.

Disliked: Limited shower/toilets. Wasn't okay early in the season but could be an issue if busy. Cleaned and filled at least once a day (may be more- we were out all day) but take your own loo roll for the morning! Pitches are a slight slope but nothing major.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely comments, I am so pleased had a fantastic time. I am looking into a new toilet and shower block in addition to the one we have with separate toilet cubicles, we were full this weekend so I am pleased to hear that it was ok, thank you for your feedback. We all look forward to welcoming you back again. Take care and kind regards, Nat & Team x

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: We had 3 tents and we were put together! The views were fantastic ! We came to celebrate my husbands 60th Birthday and we had a wonderful time ! Toilet/shower block cleaned daily! There was a wash room with 2 massive sinks to do your dishes lovely hot water and a washer and dryer in there at a charge which is understandable! Grandkids enjoyed the little play area next to the pub! The team in the pub were friendly and great service .

Disliked: It’s only my opinion but would prefer the shower and toilets to be separated but that’s all really

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Very peaceful, quite central to scarbrough and filey so easy to find things to do near by. Free swimming which you can book for only your family to go in which I loved.

Disliked: Play park was rubbish, rotten and nowhere near the tent area meaning the kids couldn't go without us, toilets weren't very clean.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked: Great things for the kids to do eg - swimming pool with good opening hours & you can book out privately to. Pool and air hockey. They had craft days on and food was decent in the bar too. We got 5g on the camp site but no signal in the bar area

Disliked: We camped on the electric pitch, when we got there we realised it was on quite a bank after the first night everyone else was leaving so I asked if we could moved down to the bottom of the bank, we had a 1 year old and she couldn’t walk or stand on the bank without falling and we were refused the move and as well as been told it is advised as on a bank(which I am yet to find on the booking) and that in all her time she’s never heard of a child not been able to stand or walk which I found quite rude. Also they is only 5 shower which also had the toliet in for the hold site and they weren’t clean at all

Local attractions

Build a day out around the kids by taking them to Playdale Farm Park (10 minutes’ drive), where they can feed alpacas, handle guinea pigs or have a go at ziplining. Then head to the North Yorkshire Water Park (15 minutes), for climbing, bouncing and sliding on the inflatable adventure course. With its chequered floor and elegant colonnade framing views of the sea, the Sun Court at the Scarborough Spa (20 minutes) is a great spot for a drink, maybe accompanied by music from a live orchestra. A stroll along South Bay Beach takes you to a pretty marina lined with restaurants and the Luna Park theme park. A chalk outcrop jutting into the North Sea, Flamborough Outer Headlands Nature Reserve (half an hour) is a popular spot for birdwatching. The coastline around here is pretty spectacular, with tall cliffs and rock formations like the Drinking Dinosaur, where seals come for a rest.
