Solway Holiday Village is named the north west’s top-selling site by Pitchup.com

Jan 12 2015 Posted by Samantha Marsh

Solway Holiday Village in Silloth, Cumbria has been named by Pitchup.com as its top-selling site in the north west for 2014.

The figures, compiled from Pitchup.com’s bookings for 1,050 camping and caravan sites throughout the UK and Europe, show that Solway Holiday Village led the way for visitors to the north west, a vast region which includes Cumbria and the Lake District, Lancashire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester.

Solway Holiday Village brought in an impressive 444 bookings to the region between January and December 2014.  Its nearest competitor took a respectable 347 bookings but it was far below the numbers that were flocking to Solway.

Dan Yates, founder of outdoor accommodation specialist Pitchup.com, commented: “The Lake District is most popular search on our site and with 1.4m searches for holidays in the north west last year, it comes as little surprise that a Cumbrian site is the top seller for the north west.  We have some amazing accommodation in the region but what really swings it for Solway Holiday Village is the facilities on the site which appeal to all types of visitors, especially families.”

Solway Holiday Village is  located in Silloth on the northern tip of Cumbria.  There are endless opportunities for activity and adventure close to the site including Hadrian’s Wall, the peaks of the Lake District and kitesurfing or windsurfing from nearby Allonby beach.  Furthermore the on-site facilities are extensive and mostly free to use including a kids’ club, animal farm, indoor and outdoor play areas, tennis court, swimming pool, entertainment complex and even a mini train to take visitors to and from it all!

Commenting on their success, Sam Hagan, Director at Hagans Leisure, who own Solway Holiday Village, said: “We’re honoured to be the top-selling site for the north west.  It’s a pretty impressive title given the volume and quality of the sites in the region.  Pitchup.com has proved to be a valuable resource for us since we joined.  It has raised our profile both outside of the region and the UK and really helped with our growth.  We pride ourselves on the facilities and service we offer to our guests so I’m hoping we can continue the momentum into 2015 and maintain our position as the leader for the north west, or maybe even leader for the UK!”
