‘Pitchup’ for the best sites at this summer’s festivals

Booked tickets for a summer festival?

Outdoor accommodation specialist Pitchup.com has some great ideas for where to stay!

Summer is on its way as are the annual festival round ups. While some events come with camping included in the ticket price, many do not and it can be hard to find some of the smaller family-run farm sites without local knowledge.

“That’s where we come in,” says founder of Pitchup.com, Dan Yates. “We have great search facilities on Pitchup.com for festival goers, making it easy to find somewhere to camp near any festival in the UK.”

“Major festivals are listed within our site so by simply entering the festival name into the search box, users will find a number of sites located closeby. If the festival is not listed then simply search by typing in the name of the nearest town or the postcode, which will present various choices of somewhere to stay.”

Among the events coming up this summer are:

Masked Ball: 2-3 May 2015
Cornwall’s answer to a funky disco festival, this two-day event takes place in Porthleven, Cornwall, right on the southern coast. Headliners include Bonobo and Simian Mobile Disco. Pitchup.com has bargain accommodation just a four-mile walk away at Lower Polladras Touring Park where tent pitches start from just £26 for two nights.

How The Light Gets In: 21 - 31 May 2015
Known as ‘the world’s largest philosophy and music festival’ this 10-day long event features an impressive line up from the worlds of music, theatre, literature and dance. Among the big names are Rae Morris, Molotov Jukebox, Mike Skinner, Natalie Bennett, Paul Krugman and Fiona Shaw. Pitchup.com has excellent camping available nearby at Bridge Inn Camping Site. Set within the grounds of a pub, it’s an excellent choice for festival goers who will have all they need after a day of entertainment. There are pitches here for tents, caravans and motorhomes starting from just £20 per night and there is plenty of availability throughout the festival.

Love Supreme: 3 - 5 July 2015
This jazz-inspired festival has attracted some big names for 2015 including Chaka Khan, Van Morrison, Rebecca Ferguson, Candi Staton, Lisa Stansfield and Neneh Cherry across two packed days of entertainment. Camping is available just a few miles away at Oakfield Farm Campsite in Hailsham.  From just £16 per night visitors will find spacious pitches along with basic facilities.

Cornbury Music Festival: 10 - 12 July 2015
Music lovers looking to mix it up with an eclectic collection of artists should head for Cornbury Music Festival in Oxfordshire. Headliners range from Tom Jones, Razorlight and The Fratellis to Blue, Lulu, Billy Ocean and Chas & Dave! The Pig Place is a ‘crackling’ local campsite offering pitches from only £11 per night. As the name suggests the site is located on a working pig farm and visitors have access to the farm shop for purchasing all types of local delights from bacon, sausages and eggs to apple sauce and stuffing. Plenty to ensure a tasty breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Bestival: 10 - 13 September 2015
Having become one of the UK’s most popular festivals, this event attracts big-name headliners including the Chemical Brothers, Duran Duran and Underworld.  The Isle of Wight has plenty of places to stay but one of the nearest sites is Roebeck Camping and Caravan Park where three nights starts from £42 for a grass pitch.  The site offers simple facilities including a shower block and laundry room. Greater home comforts can be found a little further away at Sunnycott Caravan Park where three nights in a four-berth holiday home costs from £246. With a fully-equipped kitchen, shower room and exterior decked area, it’s an ideal retreat away from the festival fun.
