Five night farm stay from £175 for a family of four

Pitchup.com is part of The Wild Network campaign encouraging families to spend quality time outdoors together

Have you and yours been huddled indoors all winter? As spring approaches, now is the time to get outside and get active, to avoid the children’s health problems like rickets and obesity that experts are concerned about. Outdoor holiday specialist Pitchup.com has come up with some fantastic February half-term breaks to get the whole family into the great outdoors to soak up some healthy vitamin D.

By the Sea in Cornwall

Ideal for kids, Atlantic Surf Pods looks as if it has come straight out of the Teletubbies TV set.  This fun and funky site offers accommodation in luxury family sized pods.  Each pod has underfloor heating, a private wet room, gas barbecue, king sized bed and camping beds.  They are also fully furnished with crockery, cutlery and seating.  The pods are just minutes from Bude and the west Cornish beaches.

A five night half-term break starts from £365 for two adults and two children up to the age of 16.

On the Farm in West Wales

Enjoy a break on this friendly working farm located in Carmarthenshire. West Wales Camping Pods offers camping pods sleeping up to two adults and three children with an area of roughly 4m x 6m for each pod. The pods have electric hook-ups, electric lighting and double power points. Each pod also has individual car parking spaces and a patio with barbecue chiminea. Dogs are welcome too and are included free of charge.

A five night stay for a family of two adults and two children is priced from £175 per camping pod.

Lochside Scottish Hideaway

Families can get in touch with their inner Bear Grylls on a break in the Scottish Highlands at Loch Tay Highland Lodges.  Accommodation varies from pods and yurts to a woodland cabin, all with stunning Scottish views. There are cooking facilities on site which guests may find useful for whipping up a meal from their own fishy catch directly out of Loch Tay.  There are also showers, a drying room, a launderette and a restaurant.  All types of activities are available locally including archery, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking and sailing.

A five night family half-term break starts from £300 based on accommodation in a standard camping pod.

In Northumberland National Park

Travelling at half-term but without children?  PoSH Huts in Hexham could be just the place.  These romantic shepherd’s huts are set within private gardens overlooking a woodland and river.  The en-suite huts are elegantly decorated with bespoke handmade kitchen, king size bed and even chandeliers.  As for what to do while staying, facilities and amenities include a beautician pamper service, clay pigeon shooting, fishing and a fine dining service directly to your hut from your own personal chef.

A one night stay for two people starts from £75 per two adults in February.

All-inclusive in Warwickshire

Families who like to enjoy the outdoors but without having to bring any extras will appreciate the facilities at Wootton Park in Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire.  Each pod comes fully equipped and there’s no need even to cook in the mornings: breakfast baps are served daily in the 500 year old farmhouse.  The full facilities in each pod include a bed, mirror, towels, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities – essentially everything families could expect from a luxury hotel room.  Shower rooms are just a few steps away.  Pods sleep up to two adults and two small children and start from £425 in February for a five night stay for four.  Away from the site visitors will find a host of family attractions from the historical town of Stratford to the excitement of Warwick Castle.

With over 80 filters for families to design their Pitchup.com outdoor holidays, including family-friendly sites, sites with a play area and sites with kids’ clubs, half-term is covered!
