  • Peaceful family park with large, shaded and grassy sites
  • Located inside Dodge City limits, five minutes' drive from the centre
  • Play area, shop and recreation and TV rooms
For Dodge City explores with oodles of space once you come home to rest, mosey on over to Riverside RV Park. This park in southwest Kansas is less than five minutes' drive from the former frontier cow town and has spacious sites to spread out on… along with big grassy areas for games, a play area and a friendly atmosphere. While the sheer size of the outdoor space should be more than enough to satisfy, there are recreation and TV rooms to snuggle up in too. There's a small shop on site for provisions aplenty, and a supermarket is a 10-minute walk away. Riverside RV Park's also got the goods when it comes to essential amenities, with heated bathhouses, gas and propane, a laundry room and chemical disposal available. The Depot Theatre Company – known as the Broadway on the Prairie – is less than 10 minutes away if you’re up for some cabaret and a play. Or, for kid-friendly days out a short walk away, the slides, lazy rivers and rock pool of Long Branch Lagoon waterpark are within a 20-minute stroll. To escape the city and get out onto the Kansas plains, you can reach the historic Santa Fe Trail west of town, known as the old pioneer highway between 1821 and 1872, within a 20-minute drive. Keep your eyes on the ground during your wander – you can still see the wagon ruts in some parts of the path.

Local attractions

Dodge City, known as Queen of the Cow Town, is rich in stuff to do. Want to find out more about the area’s fascinating frontier history? Make a move towards Boot Hill Museum (25 minutes' walk). You’ll stroll down an Old West street made up of reconstructed buildings like the old Fort Dodge jail, First Union Church and Santa Fe Depot, and might see the occasional gunfight re-enactment too… The Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame (25 minutes), a former schoolhouse filled with life-size wax sculptures of well-known Americans, from Wyatt Earp to Sitting Bull, sits beside the museum and opens from June to August. Also accessible in the warmer months is the Home of Stone Museum (25 minutes), with its 1881 furnishings, and Dodge City Raceway Park (five minutes' drive), a dirt track with a summertime programme of epic racing. Feeling lucky? Getting to Boot Hill Casino takes just over 10 minutes in the car.
