Ready to park up and ditch the car keys for a while? Camper Área Santa Pola, just outside the Valencian Community seaside resort of Santa Pola, could be the place for you – it’s in a most handy spot for those who’d like to trundle about on two wheels for a while. Cycling over to central Santa Pola from this peaceful park is a straightforward thing: it’ll take you around 10 minutes of pedalling along a quiet bike path to get to shops, restaurants and a supermarket or to hit the beach, the castle, the aquarium or the marina (for trips to the island of Tabarca). A skate park, amusement park and zoo are all within 15 minutes’ bike ride too, or you could follow the cycle path all the way to elegant Elche in around 45 minutes if you’ve got more pedal power to use up. All this zooming about on bikes could potentially leave you a little frazzled on warm days, so it’s cheering to see that the site’s been supplied with a small open-air pool to cool off in, plus a laundry room and shower block to get you and your togs clean again. If all that’s left you in need of a good meal, get your grill glowing for a barbecue dinner.

Liked: Netter Empfang. Kurzfristige Verlängerung kein Problem. Sprachverständigung gut. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten Lidl.... günstige Tankstellen nicht weit weg. Regelmäßige Reinigung der alten Sanitäranlagen. Nachts wird durch ein Tor Anlage gesichert. Santa Pola überzeugt weil nicht Touristenüberflutet.

Disliked: nachts sind die Klimaanlagengeräusche der umliegenden Firmen etwas zu hören. Renovierung der Sanitären Gebäuden wäre zeitnah sinnvoll.

Liked: 15 minutes from Alicante airport, cheap, basic, suited me for 1 night with early start next morning. Site mainly for long term campers. WiFi ok but not brilliant.

Disliked: Limited reception hours. No-one there when I arrived at 2pm then again at 5pm, so just parked on my own choice of space. Lots of instructions on signs by reception, but only in Spanish. Pitches very close together, campers next to me had Aircon machine running all night.

Liked: Está súper genial el sitio súper tranquilo con unas parcela bastante grande el gerente del sitio es muy amable tiene duchas y baño amplio y súper limpio tiene la playa a 20 min más o menos andando y supermercado en 15min lo recomiendo para un sitio tranquilo y para la familia espero volver pronto con los nene otra vez

Disliked: Near industrial estate area with constant factory noise stopped early hours then started again low in level but could be heard most of the time. Showers basic wear flip flops.

Disliked: Mye støy både dagtid og natt - industriområde.
Toalettanlegget var så dårlig at vi valgte å ikke benytte det. WC sete var ødelagt på begge toalettene - måtte sitte å holde seg fast når vi var der. Brukte det kun en gang.
Reiser ikke tilbake uansett. Da tar vi heller en overnatting langs stranden. :)

Local attractions

There’s not just one beach in Santa Pola – there’s a good handful to pick from around the resort. Aim for Playa Levante for calm waters, soft sands and palm trees to shelter beneath, Gran Playa for windsurfing or the rocky coves at Calas del Cuartel for snorkelling. Pups who’d like to get their paws in the sand can do so at La Caleta dels Gossets (15 minutes’ drive). Not done with the coast yet? Board a boat at Santa Pola’s harbour for the day trip to the island of Tabarca for birdwatching, glass-bottomed boat tours and seaview strolls. If you’re sticking to the mainland, Santa Pola has a handsome 16th-century castle to wander around, along with kid-friendly days at the likes of Pola Park amusement park and Rio Safari Elche animal park. Turn away from the coast for a little while and head inland to the gorgeous little city of Elche (25 minutes’ drive), whose streets and park are home to a whopping 200,000 palm trees. Meanders around town have a real Moorish feel to them, taking in the 12th-century Arab baths, Calaforra tower and Altamira Castle. Strong-legged sorts can climb to the top of the basilica towers for cracking views across the city.

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Dogs must be kept on leashes and supervised at all times.
