You’re going to be busy when you stay at Campotel at Camping Castell Montgri… for not only is this site in L’Estartit close to the resort’s beach and watersports, and surrounded by lush, green nature reserves, but it’s also got a rather extensive list of leisure activities of its own to fill your days with.
At the top of that list is likely to be time spent at the family-friendly swimming pools, where there is a kids’ pool, water polo activities and waterslides and chutes. After that, head to the multi-sports pitch for some football, basketball or handball, or head out and about to go hill walking or cycling. For other easy activities, the site runs an action-packed entertainment programme for teenagers and the Seagull disco and pub for over 16s.
With all this in mind, it’s handy that this Catalonia park’s static caravans are well equipped with beds, kitchens and bathrooms, leaving you with very little to do to get the practicalities sorted (a supermarket and launderette to aid with the remaining tasks).
If you can’t find time to venture into the kitchen, fret not – the park has three restaurants, a pizzeria, two takeaways and a café-crêperie to pick from, plus three bars for the grownups and three ice cream parlours to treat the kids (or yourselves…)

Local attractions
The very simplest way to sort a day out around here is to wander up to reception and join an organised excursion or hire bikes to pedal around the local area. There’s also a shuttle bus from here to the beach in summer (June to August), or you can stroll down there in 15 minutes or so. There are kayaks, pedalos and loungers to hire on this stretch of sand so your beach days can be active or lazy as you wish.
For more time out at sea, sign up for lessons at the local surf school or chat to a watersports provider to sort days of windsurfing, paddleboarding and jetskiing. L’Estartit’s known as one of the best places around for scuba diving and the town’s dive centres can provide training and fun dives. Boat trips out to the nearby Medes Islands are an option if you’d rather stay up on the surface.
Proper day trips around the area might take you to Aquabrava waterpark (40 minutes’ drive), for a wander around the streets of Girona (45 minutes) or to explore the colourful world of Salvador Dalí in Figueres (40 minutes).
