- Eco-friendly stays in spectacular surroundings
- Wildlife haven with mountain views
- Two pools, restaurant and play area
Nature-based stays in exceptional surroundings was the aim of two friends 20 years when they decided to set up a Cantabrian campsite. The result was Camping San Pelayo, a peaceful place in a wildlife haven that the friends have improved year by year to keep their guests as comfy as poss.
San Pelayo is surrounded by nature and greenery, with views of the Picos de Europa and with the Deva river running a few meters away. The aim of the site was to set up an eco-friendly and amiable atmosphere while keeping everything modern and running smoothly, and the owners reckon this spot is just the ticket for a relaxing hol: one could loaf about and read a book, take a scenic stroll in the site surroundings, or just fall asleep on one of the sunbeds…
The site has two pools, one for adults and one for kids. There's also a restaurant, a play area, a shop and up to date heated shower facilities with free hot water.

Local attractions
Cantabria's a fab spot for Spanish hols, whether your tastes tend towards the placid or getting active outdoors. Quad biking, paintball, canoeing, rafting, mountain biking, hiking and cycling are all available in the surrounding area: if you need a few tips on where to start, the Camping San Pelayo staff are always chuffed to share their local knowledge.
The site's also a handy base for exploring the Picos de Europa mountain range, a short drive away. (Why are they called the European mountains? Because at only about 20 kilometres inland from the Spanish coast, they were probably the first sight on the continent greeting weary travellers sailing back from the Americas centuries ago.)
The range includes the Cantabrian Mountains, a top hiking spot and climbing spot as well as skiing around the resorts of Alto Campoo, Valgrande-Pajares and Manzaneda.
