To the Frisian Lakes district… and a fine place from which to launch all the watery activities you may have on your holiday wishlist, for Friesland site Recreatiebedrijf De Koevoet is right on the banks of Koevorde Lake. That shoreline setting (in the grounds of a traditional farmhouse, no less) means straightforward access to the water for swims and fishing, and a handy marina where guests can moor small boats or hire them to sail around locally. And if you’re more in the mood for lakeside lazing? Well, pick your spot… there are gorgeous views all around at this Teroele site, either looking out over the lake or towards the surrounding green fields (which also form a pleasing backdrop for walks, bike rides or boat outings, should you feel the urge to get up and explore). And if that lake viewing experience would be enhanced by having a drink and/or snack to hand? Scoot over to the restaurant, in a converted hayloft with a waterside terrace and a sizeable open fireplace to cosy up by on cooler days (or if you’ve had a dunking in the lake). Coffees, drinks and traditional ‘bitterball’ snacks can be had here, along with a full lunch and dinner menu, and there’s a piano that sometimes inspires the place to burst into song – guests can feel free to knock out a tune or two if they have suitably nimble fingers. For times when you don't fancy waterside activity, other facilities on site include a playground, TV room, free wifi and a small library of books and games.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Wir haben absolut nichts zu kritisieren. Die Lage des Platzes ist traumhaft. Ruhe pur. Auch das Essen im Hafencafe war sehr gut. Neue und sehr moderne Sanitäreinrichtungen, netter Betreiber. Wir waren nur für eine Nacht dort, werden aber bestimmt wiederkommen.

Liked: El camping se encuentra en un pequeño y precioso puerto del lago. La tranquilidad que hay tanto por el día y más por la noche son increíbles.
Los 2 recepcionistas son muy majos y están encantados de ayudarte en lo que necesites.

Local attractions

Can’t get enough of the watery stuff? Get on your bikes and pedal off to Langweer (15 minutes’ bike ride) for more sailing and watersports, or to Swimfun (half an hour) to splash in the wave pool and lazy river. When the time comes to dry off, perhaps take your golf clubs to the Sint Nicolaasga course (five minutes’ drive), or take off to tramp the trails of De Alde Feanen National Park (40 minutes). Those with an eye for a fine piece of engineering might also like to take a look at a couple of impressive efforts: the century-old D.F. Wouda Steam Pumping Station (20 minutes’ drive) and the Afsluitdijk Wadden Centre (half an hour), out in the middle of the huge causeway. Interests lie more in the animal kingdom? Get up close to woolly beasts at AlpacaWorld Flevoland (25 minutes), or watch water-based ones at AquaZoo Friesland (40 minutes).

All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leashes and supervised at all times.
Guide dogs are allowed on site free of charge.

Extras

A charge of €0.50 ($0.53) applies for the use of the shower.

General

A state-issued fishing license is required (you'll need to apply for this beforehand).
Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.
Quiet hours must be respected between 10 p.m. and 9 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and trunks must be closed quietly.
Refunds within the indicated cancelation period are only possible if the park is able to relet your unit/site.
The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behavior is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
