‘Village’ is an apt word to have in the name of Camping Village Kamemi – this Sicily site has so many handy facilities it’s pretty much self sufficient. Having just about everything you need right there on site means this is a particularly fine base for a fuss-free family holiday where you’ll be able to chill out and not have to think too much about dealing with everyday essentials.
Those handy amenities include a well-stocked shop (with lots of fresh fruit and veg, drinks, groceries and beach kit), a launderette and a wifi service as well as bathrooms with accessible facilities and hot-water showers. The bar sells breakfasts and sandwiches as well as a good range of cool drinks, and there’s also a restaurant with tasty Sicilian fare and pizzas to eat in or take away.
Having all the essentials sorted means that you’ll be able to focus on the important task of enjoying your holiday – perhaps starting by heading to the beach 700 metres away, with both free and equipped areas and a diving centre to help you discover what’s under the sea’s surface. Or perhaps you’d prefer the spacious outdoor pool area, where you can take a swim, join an aquagym session or claim a sun lounger on the terrace for some quality time with your book. A tennis court, football pitch and playground are also on hand, and there are organised kids’ activities in summer.
When you do want to venture out from the ‘village’, you can head to nearby Ribera (10 minutes’ drive) and historic Agrigento (40 minutes), or simply pick another of the local beaches…

Local attractions
Camping Village Kamemi is a little bit away from the island’s main tourist resorts, but it certainly doesn’t lack things to do nearby. You may like to start with a stroll around Ribera (10 minutes’ drive), known as ‘the city of oranges’ and a great place to find good local food. Other towns along the coast include Sciacca (25 minutes), known for its wine and olive oil, and Agrigento (40 minutes), an arty city close to the UNESCO-listed Valley of the Temples archaeological site.
For more history, check out the atmospheric ruins of Poggiodiana Castle (15 minutes) and the ancient Greek ruins at Selinunte Archaeological Park (45 minutes) or stay local to see the Anguilla Necropolis (10 minutes).
Time for the beach? This stretch of coast has plenty, with clear seas and activities like windsurfing and banana boats. Piana Grande (five minutes) and Borgo Bonsignore (10 minutes), within a nature reserve, are two lovely local picks.
