  • Family site 300 metres from the white sandy beach of the Varano Lagoon
  • Set on a nature reserve in Puglia's Gargano National Park
  • Restaurant serving pizza and bar with summer entertainment
A spectacular – and huge – sandy beach is within a short stroll of Camping Village Uria. And its surroundings aren't too shabby either: the beach is part of the scenic Varano Lagoon, on Italy's southern Adriatic coast, and set within the Isola Varano Nature Reserve – in turn part of the vast Gargano National Park. Have some sailing, fishing or canoeing/kayaking from here, or cast off for a spot of angling straight from the site. Handily, bike hire is available nearby too (you'll certainly want to explore these surroundings further…). After all that, make your way back to the site for an evening of entertainment such as kids' dances, live music and competitions on the bar terrace, after a pizza or other tasty bites from the Village Uria restaurant. A play area, pétanque court, tennis court and TV room are also around to keep all ages entertained during days on site. Reach the beach via a 300-metre walk crossing the SP41 road and the pine grove, to find the path leading down to the sea. You might be there for quite some time…

Local attractions

Camping Village Uria's local town is Ischitella, a handsome hillside settlement. It and the site are on the Gargano Promontory jutting out into the Adriatic Sea: wherever you wander around here, smashing coastal views and cliffs are a given. The surrounding area of the Gargano National Park includes the large protected area of the Umbra forest, and the scenic sights of the Tremiti Islands archipelago, a rightly popular Foggia province tourist destination because of their peaceful vibe and clear waters. Catch a ferry from the mainland from Termoli (to the west) or Vieste (to the east) to roam the two main Tremiti Islands: the sandy beach of San Domino, the most touristy of the isles, and the small island of San Nicola, 450 metres away from San Domino. If you're accessing the isles from Vieste, have some time around its two big beaches too, including a squint at the Pizzomunno, the 25-metre monolith close to Castle beach.
