It's free, quick and easy!
- Coastal site in a nature reserve a short walk from the beach
- Half an hour's drive from harbour for trips to the Tremiti Islands
- Swimming pool, sports facilities, restaurant and family activities
All ready with your Apulia holiday checklist? You're likely going to need it, for Camping Varano Village is one of those top-notch places that has many, many things going for it.
For starters, the location’s going to score pretty high on the fab setting scale – Camping Varano Village is in a coastal nature reserve, with a lagoon behind and the beach (several kilometres of it, with a serviced area and loads of family-friendly space) just a short herb-scented amble away. Excursions to the gorgeous Tremiti Islands and walks in the Gargano National Park are close by (and can even be booked at reception – how handy). For town time, Cagnano Varano is about 25 minutes' drive away on the other side of the lagoon.
On top of that location there's an extensive list of leisure facilities, too – the semi-Olympic-sized swimming pool, the paddling pool, the multisports pitch, the tennis courts and the colourful playground among them. Plus of course the fairly full-on programme of activities to keep both bambini and bigger folks amused by day and night: think theme nights, discos, gym classes, shows, beach games…
Clearly, food’s going to be a feature, as well (Italians being a pretty demanding bunch when it comes to their grub). Unsurprisingly, the nosh here is top-notch, at the restaurant (with wood-fired pizzas, takeaway options and a kids’ menu), the bar (open from breakfast through to the wee small hours) and the well-stocked mini market.

Local attractions
This is a super stretch of coastline; beyond that fab beach are lots of gorgeous coves, cliffs and sea caves – best way to see it all is on a boat trip that can take you right into the little caves (and the best way to find one of those is to book in reception).
Another splendid boat trip nearby takes you to the Tremiti Islands; it’ll take you half an hour or so to drive to Rodi Garganico for the journey over the five little islands for quiet beaches, nature trails and some excellent scuba diving.
Other recommended days out nearby include walks in the Gargano National Park (especially its pine-filled Foresta Umbra) and visits to the area’s religious sanctuaries such as the Baroque-style Sanctuary of the Madonna della Libera in Rodi Garganico.
