Shaded spots on site

  • Peaceful spot in the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park
  • Minibus to the beach; site can organise hiking, cycling and boat trips
  • On-site restaurant serving up local dishes to eat in or take away
Craggy coastline one way and a nature haven the other… it's safe to say that Camping La Primula has something of a prime position in the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park. This family-friendly place five kilometres from Pisciotta is close to the Cilentan coast, and has some rather fine views of Cape Palinuro bay. For properly laidback times, catch the on-site minibus to the private beach, which is kitted out with sun loungers and parasols for the ultimate in relaxing days (there’s also a private car park there, so you can make your own way if you’d rather pack up the car with all the essentials for a sandy session). For something a bit more energetic, opt for coastal hikes or swap the sea views for green leafy ones with explores further into the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park. There’s a pretty varied landscape here, with mountains, woodland, river valleys and caves to navigate. The Camping La Primula team can organise hiking, bike tours and boat trips to help you get to grips with your surroundings, and there are also horse riding, kayaking and fishing options nearby. Back at base, there’s a bar and restaurant; get comfy on the terrace and tuck into your local eats while chilling in the shade of oak and olive trees, or arrange a takeaway if you’ve got places to be.

Local attractions

If the views of Cape Palinuro leave you wanting more, make your way to the photogenic arch of Palinuro and see the lighthouse up close (half an hour's drive). The gorgeous nature trails and coastal roams of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park are indeed splendid, but this is also a good base for some town and city hopping. For your culture fix, start with a visit to the archaeological park of Elea/Velia (20 minutes) to wander around the Roman ruins. The temples and ruins at Paestum (an hour), meanwhile, are fab examples of ancient Greek architecture – the trio of well-preserved temples here is a must-see. Maratea (an hour and a half) is also worth a visit – it's also known as ‘the town with 44 churches’ (for obvious reasons). It's quite a climb up to the Statue of Christ the Redeemer of Maratea but you'll be rewarded with some pretty special views, so keep on going… With history lessons complete, make your way to the Aquafarm waterpark (an hour and 20 minutes) for kid-friendly slides and a wave pool.
