  • Dog-friendly site with a swimming lake in central Harz
  • A 25-minute drive from Quedlinburg and Thale; Bode Gorge half an hour
  • Fishing, play area, cinema, bar and games such as table tennis on site
Hearing the call of the Harz region for the likes of mountains, forests, steam trains and traditional mountain towns? This could well be the place for you – centrally based Harz-Camp Bremer Teich is surrounded by forest, far away from any city din. If you're not already sold, you may well be after hearing that it also has its very own swimming lake with clear water and a lush green lawn where guests can read a book, sunbathe or chill out after their swim. That rural location means you might wish to use this dog-friendly place as a base for activities like hiking and mountain biking in summer or skiing and tobogganing in winter. For a little sightseeing to add to the mix, first in line should be UNESCO-listed Quedlinburg, a town just 25 minutes’ drive away. It’s the same distance to Thale, bordering the Harz mountain range and Bode Gorge. Given that there’s so much to see, you’ll probably want to factor in some proper ‘me time’ or family time too. That's easily done – there’s a bar and cinema on site, for starters. Guests can also go fishing or spend time playing table tennis, billiards and bowling, and a playground is provided for families. After such a jam-packed day, you might choose to join one of the site’s barbecue evenings. On other days, maybe set up your own campfire, collecting your ingredients from the shops in Quedlinburg or Thale. To help you feel nicely fresh before calling it a night, Harz-Camp Bremer Teich has a family-friendly toilet and shower block with accessible facilities.

Powered forest floor travel trailer campsite

Liked: The peace and quiet of the location

Disliked: Lack of information on local area in other languages. There was no translations for English speaking and no English speakers. We appreciate we did not speak German and so tried with Google translate but pamphlets on local activities and sites would have been useful. We did find this when we visited Quedlingburg on our last day. Being English seemed to go against us

Liked: Sehr grün (Das kann man momentan kaum noch von Orten sagen im Harz-leider) und idyllisch dort! Der kleine saubere Waldsee kam auf Grund der Größe sehr warm rüber!
Wirklich weiter zu empfehlen

Local attractions

Strolling through the medieval streets of Quedlinburg (25 minutes’ drive), keep your eyes peeled for half-timbered houses and museums. It should be quite easy to spot Stiftskirche St. Servatius (20 minutes), a 10th-century Romanesque church with sculptures, manuscripts and other relics. This UNESCO-listed town has one of the oldest schools in Germany to its name. In Genrode, Fahrkartenausgabe Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (10 minutes) is a station on the Harz’s historic narrow-gauge railway bound for stunning scenery around the Selketal. If you’d rather stay put, turn into the Harzer Uhrenmuseum (10 minutes) to browse genuine Harz watches and huge cuckoo clocks. A good outdoorsy day can be had in Thale (25 minutes), which sits conveniently alongside mountains. It’s also next to Bode Gorge (half an hour), a ravine stretching for 10 kilometres with a tempting trail. Hexentanzplatz Thale (half an hour) should pique some interest too, as the rocky cliff has a witch museum with views over the Bode Valley.
