  • Peaceful well-being site on the banks of two rivers in the Ardèche
  • A short drive from scenic villages and Monts d’Ardèche Natural Park
  • Pool and river walks; yoga and meditation activities available
The spirit of zen is alive and thriving at Village Nature Zen - Camping La Turelure, a leafy site on the outskirts of Uzer in the Ardèche. This is a calm and restful spot with well-being as the focus of your stay – for here you can take time out from daily life to take care of your holistic health with yoga, Qi gong, massage or meditation sessions in the purpose-built yurt. And if that doesn’t appeal, there’s plenty more to keep you busy. The site is surrounded by two rivers, the Ligne and Lande, so take long walks along the rivers or go wild swimming. Unwind by the outdoor pool, chill in a hammock on the river bank or take up fishing… You’re sure to find a restful way to pass the time. And as if all that’s not enough, this eight-and-a-half-acre woodland site keeps on giving, with magnificent views of the Tanargue massif and easy access to the scenic Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park (10 minutes' drive away) for all manner of hiking, cycling and climbing adventures. Practicalities are not neglected on site either; there’s an informal snack bar (open during high season only) where pizzas come highly recommended and breakfasts of bread, pastries, butter, jam, juice and tea or coffee can be pre-ordered the day before. The energy will likely come in handy for games at the ping pong table or pétanque court.

Local attractions

This corner of Rhône-Alpes paradise is happily close to two of the most beautiful villages in France. The tall, gaily shuttered houses of medieval Largentière (10 minutes’ drive) sit haphazardly along the River Ligne, while the mellow-stone cottages in Balazuc (15 minutes) hug the course of the Ardèche River as it meanders through its gorge. Sports enthusiasts can spend their time hiking or pedalling up the steep hills of the Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park (10 minutes). The latter will enjoy the challenge of the long-distance Via Ardèche cycle path (an hour by bike), and if that sounds like too much effort, then try canoeing through the Ardèche gorges (45 minutes’ drive) – if you want to up the ante a bit, the arduous sport of canyoning is popular in the Chassezac gorges (an hour). The Ardèche has subterranean attractions too. Don’t miss the chance to marvel at the ethereal (replica) cave paintings at Grotte Chauvet 2 (half an hour), the bizarre limestone formations in Aven d’Orgnac (45 minutes) or the underground pools at Grotte Saint-Marcel (55 minutes).
