There are days out galore in the area around Camping Le Moulin des Effres – from this Deux-Sèvres site on the edge of the town of Secondigny you’ll easily be able to get to Puy du Fou and Futuroscope, explore the Marais Poitevin, stroll around La Rochelle… All of this is thanks in part to the location just off the D748, which also makes this family-friendly site a great place for a stopover on longer journeys across the country. It’s really worth sticking around for a longer patch if you possibly can though – not just for day trips to all the aforementioned places but also to make use of all the excellent facilities on site. Around the five-acre site are a heated outdoor pool (with a paddling pool and waterslide), a playground, an outdoor fitness area, a pétanque court and a miniature golf course… safe to say no one’s likely to get bored. The location on the edge of a large lake also means that guests have access to watery activities such as fishing and pedal boats – or simply sitting and daydreaming while gazing over the water. If you fancy it, hire one of the site's electric scooters for a scenic ride around the site too. In summer season, there’s yet more to fill your time with – as that’s when the kids’ club gets up and running, along with daytime activities for all ages and evening entertainment such as karaoke nights and live music evenings. For food, you can grab something from the site’s snack bar, or walk the 10 minutes into the centre of town to pick up eats from the supermarket and bakery.

Liked: By a lake access gate access from site was locked

Disliked: No reception between 3pm and 6pm waited outside barrier for 2 hours. Phone calls went to answerphone. Police arrived on emergency and could not get through barrier.
Toilet blocked looked like had not been cleaned or sanitised since 30th august. Chart not signed since then.

We spoke to you several times on the phone upon your arrival, telling you that we were in low season and that our reception is not open at all hours, that you would have to wait a little bit.
For your information, our toilets are cleaned several times a day, so this seems excessive to us.
Furthermore, a regional police investigation does not fit into the evaluation context of our establishment.

Liked: C'est une équipe agréable, disponible et très accueillante. Le choix des activités est diversifié. Le service et la restauration sont très qualitatif avec des produits locaux en plus.
On peut tout faire à pied car proche du bourg (courses alimentaires, souvenirs,...).
Les sanitaires sont nettoyés plusieurs fois par jour donc nickel.
L'emplacement était ombragé donc possibilité de dormir le matin en tente ⛺ ☺️
Séjour très agréable
Je ne peux pas donner d'avis sur la WiFi ne l'ayant pas demandée.

Disliked: loin de correspondre à un camping 4 étoiles. piscine non surveillé le matin et affiché à 28° alors que je ne pense pas que ça dépasse les 22°, épicerie vide alors que je comptais dessus pour m'approvisionner et on me répond qu'il y a un super U à 5 mn en voiture. quand j'ai voulu vidanger le camping-car je ne pouvais pas tout était bouché. Les animations sont à revoir , rien pour les ados le terrain de tennis est jonché de ronce de trou même pas un coup de balai mais il faut payé 5E de l'heure, idem pour le terrain de golf 4E par personne , il est fissurer de partout plein d'épines de pin etc... et quand on leur signale on nous répond qu'il faut voir ça avec la mairie. Ok mais alors il ne faut pas le mettre en avant sur leur site. Il y a un vrai manque de personnel pour rendre ce camping en 4 étoiles. dommage...

Nous ne sommes pas étonnés de votre avis, au vu de votre comportement à votre arrivée. Vous étant présenté en dehors des horaires d'arrivée et en plein service de restauration (120 à 150 couverts/midi/soir) nous vous avons tout de même accueilli malgré votre mécontentement et votre impatience.
Par ailleurs, la piscine est privée, chauffée et dispose bien d'un surveillant de baignade tous les après-midis, conformément aux affichages et aux informations figurant sur notre site et sur le camping. Il serait judicieux d'en prendre connaissance avant d'émettre des propos incohérents.
Si vous aviez participé aux animations, vous auriez par ailleurs pu prendre connaissance des animations prévues pour les ados, (planning à l'appui). Pour terminer, nous sommes au coeur d'un domaine paysager, entourés de sapins, d'arbres et d'espaces ombragés, il est donc normal qu'en plein mois d'août, quelques épines soient tombées mais nous ne manquerons pas de remonter l'information à la mairie qui gère ces espaces.
Dommage, de ne pas avoir su apprécier la simplicité et la convivialité de notre site.

Liked: Site had lots to do, staff were lovely, pool was nice and cold which was lovely on days when the temperature was 35+ but less so when it was colder. Evening entertainment was pretty good but it would’ve been helpful if the table booking system was explained somewhere.

Disliked: Everything was a bit shabby, toilets and showers not working, lights in the shower block not working and the flies, cockroaches and ants seemed to be expected rather than dealt with.

Local attractions

You may well like to plan your holiday around a big day out or two – and the obvious contenders for such things are Puy du Fou, which takes you on a fabulous journey through time, and Futuroscope, packed with high-tech attractions and rides. Both are about an hour’s drive away. For other family-friendly days out you could head out to meet exotic animals at Zoodyssée (55 minutes) and La Vallée Des Singes (an hour and 15 minutes), or aim for La Rochelle (an hour and 20 minutes) to visit one of Europe’s biggest aquariums. If you’re here in summer it’s also worth checking out the events programme for the FLIP games festival in Parthenay (15 minutes). And of course this is a lovely area for all sorts of outdoor activities – perhaps climbing through the trees at Adventure Park 79 Chantemerle (20 minutes) or setting off for the Marais Poitevin Regional Natural Park (35 minutes) for walks, bike rides or boat trips in the watery landscapes.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
The park will send you further check-in information 30 day(s) before your arrival.

Dogs

Dogs must be kept on leashes and supervised at all times.

Extras

Entertainment passes are included in the rate.
Motorcycle(s) can be brought instead of the car(s) included.

General

Bookings are nominative and non-transferable.
Entertainment and activities are available between 07/01 and 08/31.
In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.
