  • Peaceful and green site on the edge of Saâcy-sur-Marne
  • An hour to Paris by train or car; half an hour to Disneyland Paris
  • Outdoor pool and pétanque on site; skatepark a short walk
A day of forest walks and fishing, or a day hitting the city streets in Paris? Heading to Disneyland with the kids or taking a tour of the Champagne region with your partner? Yes, there are plenty of ways to entertain yourselves during a holiday at Camping Les Usages, in the village of Saâcy-sur-Marne. This location is something of a haven of rural peace, with lots of greenery on site and plenty of options nearby for walking trails, mountain bike routes and river fishing. Handily for those who like a few bubbles in their tipples it’s on the edge of the Champagne region, with several Champagne houses about 20 minutes' drive away. Disneyland Paris is about half an hour’s drive away, and the city centre a bit further beyond (about an hour by car or train). With all this to fill your days, it’s good to know you’ll be coming back to a nicely chilled-out site that’s got plenty of space to relax and an outdoor pool where you can take a refreshing swim. A skatepark and pétanque court are on hand for a bit of activity, and there’s a small bar where you can pick up drinks and snacks. For other eats, there’s a bakery and a couple of places to eat in the village, and a supermarket 10 minutes’ drive away in Condetz.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Shower water was nice and warm other than that there was nothing I liked about this site.

Disliked: Gate was closed on arrival making entry to site from a busy road very difficult. Once we managed to get inside the gate we found reception was locked up.... we were not late in arriving, it was mid afternoon.
Had to make a phone call to be let in through barriers.
Waited 10 minutes for someone to arrive... no apology only declared he had a lot of work to do! Made us feel like an inconvenience.
Web site says warm welcome... this was not our experience.
Also says peaceful site.... not true, lots of road noise.
Facilities on site very dated and shabby in places.
We were not able to lock toilet or shower doors as they would not close, probably due to swelling.. I know it's been a wet season but this is just not acceptable. So pleased we only booked for 1 night.

It was the end of season to be fair but a site should still be tidy.

Liked: Very welcoming and friendly.

Disliked: There were some marquees sitting around which looked grubby and the shower block was disappointing. All the toilet doors were warped therefore none closed.

Liked: We booked this site last minute to break up a long journey, and what a gem of a campsite! A real family feel; the campsite owners were so helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. They lent us a European adapter for the electric hook up and were always on hand. The pitches were divided up with bushes, shrubs and plants, and were across different levels. Facilities were relatively basic, but clean. The pool was good fun and the kids had a great time making friends and playing together.
We would definitely return!!

Disliked: Rather a lot of wasps around.

Local attractions

Paris – does it need much by way of introduction? However many times you’ve been, it's always worth another visit, whether you’re ticking off major sights like the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame or poking around at the shops and cafés of Montmartre and the Marais. Getting to the city will take you about an hour by car or train. If you’re on a family holiday, it's highly likely that Disneyland Paris (half an hour’s drive) will feature on your itinerary – it is, after all, the most visited theme park in Europe. For lower-key days out with the kids, try Parrot World (half an hour), or meet the big cats at Feline Park (40 minutes). Not travelling with children? A tour of the Champagne houses around Château-Thierry (20 minutes) should certainly be on the schedule, and the golfers among you may like to play on the Arnold Palmer-designed course at Crécy Golf Club (half an hour). There are a couple of intriguing museums to visit nearby too, in the Museum of the Great War in Meaux (half an hour) and Louis Braille Museum (40 minutes).
