  • On a green wooded estate 40 minutes' drive from Chartres
  • An hour and a half's drive from Paris and two minutes from the A11
  • Bar with terrace
Venture north, venture south… but do carve out time too for a stopover or a stay at this top Centre spot, on a green wooded estate in the department of Eure et Loir, near the small village of Illiers-Combray. Camping du Bois Fleuri is oft utilised by weary travellers traversing the length of France, as it’s only a couple of minutes’ drive from the A1. Going in reverse, pack up and be back on the road with ease the next morning, to the likes of Évreux, Rouen and on to Dieppe to the north (please note that actually driving in reverse is not recommended). Or you could go down the map to Orléans, Tours, Ambois, Chambourd.... or even (especially) east, as Paris is about an hour and a half away. But one must take care not to do too much zipping about, with nary a minute to stop… and so one should consider some considerable time at Camping du Bois Fleuri. Travellers of all dispositions should surely give a thumbs up to the wifi, friendly staff and stacks of info on the region at reception, all the better to see where you might head off to next. In the morning (and evening, and afternoon), there’s a bar with spacious terrace to hang around at for morning coffee, drinks, ice cream and aperitifs; just off site, Bois Fleuri has access to a local cycling trail around the nearby towns. A heated public pool with waterslide and paddling pool is nearby, open in July and August for site guests to use gratis.

What customers say

Highly recommended for clean, family-friendly facilities & food (try the pizza!). Great for stopovers, but many wished they could stay longer for activities & woods. Unisex toilets lacked seats. WiFi's only at reception. Motorway noise is present.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass campsite

Liked What a brilliant site! We had such a great week here. Super clean, tidy and amazingly- quiet! It never felt felt busy or chaotic as some sites can.

The pitch was great, private with shaded areas under the trees! Each has its own water tap, which was brill!

The kids facilities are absolutely fantastic! Everything you could think of, they could happily have spent everyday on site if we let them.
The Pool was brilliant, trampolines, bouncy castles, go karts to hire and the wooded area an extra bonus on super hot days! They could play on the equipment or chill on hammocks in the cool shade of the trees.

Toilet blocks/showers were always clean and tidy. No toilet seats (as expected in France) but one does have one which made it easier with our youngest.

Staff were super friendly and helpful!

The Location was great, we had some lovely day trips to local areas and even managed day trips to the palace of Versailles and Disney which weren't too far away.

So glad we chose to stay here for a week!

This is more than a stop over. We spent two weeks there with two small boys enjoying the facilities on site ( especially the pool! ) and touring the area.
We will definitely go back!

Local attractions

Camping du Bois Fleuri is close to the flat agricultural land of Beauce, home to the popular department capital of Chartes about 40 minutes’ drive away. The city’s most famed site is its spectacular Gothic cathedral, so mighty and so well preserved that it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site: go and have a gawk at its extensive stained glass windows and their chunks of Chartres blue. The surrounding department of Eure-et-Loire has several well-known châteaux, including the Château de Villebon (15 minutes away), the 12th-century Château de Châteaudun (25 minutes), the Château de Maintenon, also dating from the Middle Ages (45 minutes) and the Château de Montigny-le-Gannelon (35 minutes). For towns and villages, visit the site’s local commune of Illiers-Combray, five minutes’ drive away, or the canal village of Bonneval, within 20. River cruising along the Eure is available in spring; pedalos, canoes and kayaks can be hired in summer.
