  • Pools with waterslides, sauna and hammam all free for guests
  • Play area, evening entertainment and snack bar with free wifi
The beaches of Benodet are a smashing Brittany holiday spot. How fortuitous a setting then has Camping du Poulquer, a handsomely green site only 200 metres from these scenic sands and less than a kilometre from Benodet town centre. The old fishing port of Concarneau and the mightily traditional town of Quimper are both under half an hour's drive. For splashing around on site, a stay at du Poulquer also includes free access to its fine waterpark with indoor and outdoor pools, paddling pool, waterslides, hammam and sauna – again, all gratis for guests… There’s also a play area with netted trampoline, ping pong tables and big bouncy castle for kids, and regular activities such as pétanque tournaments and disco and karaoke nights for adults and teens. Food and free wifi are sorted at the snack bar. Camping du Poulquer is also equipped with toilet blocks suitable for disabled guests, free hot showers, a launderette and a washing-up corner. Bars, restaurants, shops, a spa and a casino are a short stroll away.

Primitive grass tent, travel trailer or trailer tent campsite

Liked close to Benodet, and the local restaurants.

Disliked disliked waiting 3 days for my pitch no, had to chance it and pitch where i could, it also meant I had no electric for 3 days, did not seem a problem for owner.
Bar was not open, and outside pool was permanently closed. No fresh delivery of breads etc. There are much better places to stay, for us.

Good site, plan to make a return visit.

2 bedroom mobile home (comfort, semi-sheltered balcony)

Liked The site was quiet which suited us.
Lots of nice walks and cycle routes. Easy access to the main town along the beautiful bay of Benodet.
The Mobil home was clean and a good size for 2. Although a 4 berth it would have been a little tight.
Lots of trees which would provide good shade if needed. Indoor pool good.

Local attractions

Spas and sands are the main order of leisurely business around seasidey Benodet: the town's known as a thalassotherapy centre and four golden sandy beaches are within a kilometre of Camping du Poulquer. As well as the beaches here, get along to Plage des Dames and the Plage des Sables Blancs for serene sunbathing, or take a ferry to the nearby Glénan Islands. Among the many other Finistère and Brittany options easily reached from Benodet is Concarneau, the third biggest fishing port in France which has an Old Town on a rocky island just off the coast, a fishing museum and a fine indoor market selling fish (mais oui), fruit, veg and other local produce. Another must is Quimper, the old Brittany town where you'll still see women in traditional Breton dress (and head coverings), among the cobbled streets and half-timbered buildings. You could also take a look at the port town of Pont-l'Abbé, with the remains of its 14th-century castle as well as the Bigouden Museum also showcasing traditional dress and headpieces, or the village of Locranon. For outdoorsy antics, hike along the 12-kilometre circular trail through the forest of Bois de Névet, looking out for deer, foxes, badgers and buzzards along the way.
