Sitting on the banks of the Léguer river, on the outskirts of the Brittany town of Lannion, family- and dog-friendly Camping Onlycamp Les Deux Rives makes a great base from which to explore the region and its rugged Pink Granite Coast (20 minutes’ drive), part of the Côtes d’Armor. The GR 34 hiking trail and a cycling trail are accessible from the foot of the site, and there's kayak and bicycle rental within walking distance too. Days at the seaside might involve deciding which beach to hit first: will you go for west-facing Plage de Landrellec, where you can catch a pretty spectacular sunset? Or maybe you’ll opt for the expansive sandy crescent of Plage de Trestraou, a massively popular destination for watersports. At the westernmost end of Trestraou beach there’s an outfit arranging boat trips to the Sept Îles archipelago, a nature reserve for thousands of marine birds; also here is the trailhead for the Sentier des douaniers, a nine-kilometre path that goes all the way to the Plage Saint Guirec, past wind-shaped granite rock formations, observation points with views across to the Sept Îles, and the Phare de Mean Ruz lighthouse, right at the tip of the Ploumanac’h headland. Back to base after a day exploring this spectacular coastline, you can wind down with a game of pétanque, while the kids make new friends in the playground. A food shop on site sells local produce, or you can head into Lannion (a five-minute drive away, or a 15-minute walk) – whether to shop at the large supermarket there, visit the Église de la Trinité de Brélévenez or to experience the lively dining scene (don’t forget to try the regional speciality: galettes, or savoury crêpes). The site also comes with a well-maintained toilet/shower block (with facilities for disabled guests), a washing-up area and a launderette.

Liked: Lovely peaceful setting in trees enjoyed listening to the birds

Disliked: The poor level of cleanliness in the shower blocks and no toilet paper or bins provided.
There was no evidence of any maintenance staff around on the 3 days we were there.

Liked: Quiet, peaceful location. Natural surroundings with shady trees.
Plenty of showers and washing/ toilet facilities. Clean and tidy site and facilities. Peasant, friendly staff. Easy walk into town. Beautiful coastline nearby, great beaches. Big supermarket close by. Whisky distillery with a visitor centre within walking distance.

Disliked: No bins anywhere except at the entrance. They are needed at the wash up sinks and in the toilets (not even a sanitary towel bin!)

Disliked: The only complaint is that there was supposed to be an on-site bar, but it wasn't open as the new manager had only just started at that site.

2 bedroom lodge (comfort)

Liked: The lodge had everything we needed for a pleasant stay. The staff at the site were very welcoming and the location was ideally situated for exploring the Rose granite coast. Only problem being we wish we could of stayed longer!

Local attractions

Dating from the Neolithic period (5000–2000 BC), the Menhir de Saint Uzec (15 minutes’ drive) is one of several such ancient structures in this area. However, this one is unusual in having been refurbished for a Christian audience during the late 1600s. It is now topped by a cross and sculpted with scenes portraying the Passion of Christ. Armoripark (15 minutes) includes an aquatic area with heated indoor and outdoor pools, plus a Jacuzzi tub where the grown-ups can relax while the kids run up (and slide down) the waterslides. There are also multiple playgrounds, climbing structures and treetop courses, not to mention resident farm animals like Fifi the goat and Lulu the donkey. Visit the resort of Trébeurden (20 minutes) for Plage de Tresmeur, a sandy beach with shallow waters; hikes to the Pointe de Bihit observation point; a pretty marina lined with seafood restaurants and crêperies, and the Île Milliau, which you can access on foot at low tide.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.
Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.
Units will be allocated on arrival.

Dogs

A valid vaccination certificate must accompany your dog.
Dogs must be kept on leashes and supervised at all times.
