If you’ve got energetic kids (or indeed energetic grownups) in your travelling party, you’ll want to stay as close as you can to plenty of activities to keep them entertained throughout your holiday. And that’s what you’ll get at Yacht Club Kristyna, a pretty site on the edge of a lake in Hrádek nad Nisou. This family-friendly site is set a little bit away from the noise of the main resort (about half an hour's walk from the centre) and it’s got plenty of things to keep all ages busy. The highlight for many guests is the lake, where you can hire paddleboards and canoes for a bit of splashing about, but there’s also a tennis court and a playground on site to keep things active. Beyond that, well, you can hire bikes to hit the local trails, find places to go rock climbing, play golf, try out sailing, windsurfing and diving at nearby lakes… Or, of course, you could just sit down for a little while – the lake beach by the site is just as good for a bit of sunbathing or fishing as it is for watersports action. Once you’ve rested up a little bit, perhaps you’d like a gentle stroll by the lake to reach one of five restaurants along its shoreline – although you’re equally welcome to pick up bits from the convenience store (which also does fresh baked goodies in the mornings) and get cooking on the barbecue or campfire. Later in the day you may find there’s some live music going on, but it’s all done in a way that won't interfere with anyone’s chance to have a good night’s sleep. And to make that sleep even more relaxing, you’ll be safe in the knowledge that the site is fenced and secured.

Liked: Not a conventional campsite, 3 large pitches behind the club building including a barbeque site with power provided you have a long lead
For the hardy who do not mind rocks lake swimming is within 10 metres, othewise approx 50m for a nice soft sandy beach
Several restaurants/cafes within 50-100 m around the lake
Lots of pleasant cycling routes nearby including crossing the border to Germany (100m) or the tripoint with Czechia, Germany and Poland 3km away
Very friendly and helpful staff - we got a free bottle of fizz!

Disliked: the yacht club actually rents out windsurfers, paddle boards and canoes but only to the public at weekends and every day in August. Wish I had known this as I wanted to try a paddleboard.
Can be noisy in the evening as the site is close to a public path

Local attractions

For sightseeing, your first stop should be Grabštejn Castle (10 minutes’ drive), where a tour will take you through grand rooms and up into the tower for far-reaching views. The ruins of Lemberg Castle (25 minutes) are not as fancy, of course, but still make for an atmospheric visit. The lovely town of Liberec (20 minutes) is well worth a trip too – it's full of characterful squares and colourful old buildings, and it's got a zoo, a botanical garden and the iQLANDIA amusement park as well as lots of cafés and restaurants. You can also ride a cable car up to Jested for a walk in the woods and views over to Poland. It’s not just Poland that's easily seen/visited from here – the river behind the site forms the German border, so you can cross over there to wander around places like Löbau (35 minutes) and Görlitz (45 minutes).

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Dogs must be kept on leashes and supervised at all times.
