If a lovely lakeside setting is on your wishlist for your Carinthia countryside break, the setting of Camping Hafnersee should certainly fit the bill. This chilled-out family-friendly site is right on the banks of the Hafnersee and has several other lakes nearby – notably the popular Wörthersee, 10 minutes' drive away. Even a quick browse of the pics will show you that this is a most scenic setting for an outdoor stay, with plenty of peaceful spots where you can put your feet up, relax and soak up the views. If your holiday style is a bit more active you’ll also be well served here, as there’s a long lake beach and a jetty that give access to the water for swims, fishing and watersports like paddleboarding. This is the kind of place where you might just find yourself simply sitting down and gazing quietly out at the scenery for quite some time – but there's plenty more around if you want a change of scenery. For starters the site has a playground, ping pong tables and a miniature golf course to keep the kids entertained, and there’s bike hire to help you explore the local area on two wheels. Hikes and horse riding are also popular pastimes locally – ask on site for details of where to go. The nearby towns of Schiefling am See (five minutes' drive) and Raunach (10 minutes) are your go-to places for shops and eateries, and there are snacks at the site's vending machines. For more substantial meals, head to the site restaurant, which has indoor seating and a pretty waterside terrace.

Liked Location lovely. Reception staff very friendly and welcoming

Disliked Pitches tight for manouvering. Electric hook up some distance from pitch. No obvious point for grey water.
Restaurant quite limited and ordinary. Staff not very obliging.

Liked Spodobały mi się duże parcele. W recepcji dostaliśmy mapkę z zakreślonym konkretnym numerem parceli, która mamy zająć. Dotarcie na miejsce bez problemu. Bardzo dobre i funkcjonalne sanitariaty. Bardzo czysto. Rano przyjechał Pan z piekarni że świeżym pieczywem

Liked Stellplatz 1. Reihe am See Super Bademöglichkeiten auch mit Hund was in Österreich sehr selten ist.

Disliked DER CAMPINGPLATZ IST VIEL ZU ENG! Mit Kombi und Wohnwagen sind wir fast nicht um die Ecken gekommen zu unserem Stellplatz. Haben und beim wegfahren den Wohnwagen zerstört. Nicht geeignet für Wohnwagen!

Haben einen Stellplatz in der ersten Reihe vom See gehabt (also den teuersten) - die Stellplätze sind ziemlich klein und nicht besonders schön.

Sanitäranlagen am Abend schmutzig.

Schöner erholsamer Urlaub, empfehlenswert mit Hund und Kindern!

Disliked - leider wurden Angelplätze über Nacht reserviert (Angelordnung verbietet dies)
- Hunde waren nicht immer alle an der Leine (in Österreich herrscht Leinenplicht)

Liked Piękne położony kamping nad małym jeziorem. W około piękne zalesione góry. Węzeł sanitarny pełny. Ciepła woda. Prysznice bez dodatkowych opłat. Codziennie wszystko rano sprzątane. Recepcja czynna od 7.00 do 22.00. Nad jeziorem pomost z drabinkami do jeziora. Polecam na kilka nocy.

Liked Absolutely beautiful. One of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. Travelled from Manchester in our campervan and ended up booking this the same day, extended another night before we moved on. Will definitely be back to visit in the future.
Very friendly, very clean and lots of fun family filled memories to make.

Liked The lake was perfect for swimming and paddle boarding. The pitches were in good condition. We just came from a 5 star camping and this couldn't compare with those facilities, but I actually enjoyed this place more. We will definitely visit again

Local attractions

Once you've thoroughly explored all corners of the Hafnersee, head off to see some more of the area's scenery – perhaps starting with a trip to the top of the 100-metre Pyramidenkogel Tower (10 minutes' drive). It's the tallest wooden tower in the world, and has some fabulous views out over the Wörthersee and beyond. If you like seeing things from above, you may also like to visit Minimundus (20 minutes), where you can cast your eyes over tiny replicas of famous landmarks from around the world. It’s in the Carinthian capital Klagenfurt, where you can also visit the planetarium and Reptilienzoo Happ, take a boat trip on the Wörthersee or jump in for a cool dip. Another city worth a visit is Villach (half an hour), on the banks of the river Drau and home of the Automuseum TAF-TIMER and the Kaernten Therme thermal baths as well as numerous churches, squares and other historic buildings.
