  • Peaceful rural site a 15-minute walk from the village pub
  • Half an hour from the beaches of the south and west coasts
  • Firepit hire available on site, with wood and kindling to buy
Fancy a spot of rural relaxation a short walk from the village pub and with easy access to the famed Welsh castles and coastline? Then take a break at Y Bwthyn, a peaceful place surrounded by farmland and a 15-minute trot from the pub in Llandissilio. Energetic small fry (and accompanying canines) can romp about with impunity at this spacious site, and there’s plenty of stuff nearby to fuel holiday smiles too. Perhaps they’d like to play at being knights at Laugharne Castle, build sandcastles on Saundersfoot beach or have a go on the heart-thumping rides at Oakwood? All are within a half-hour drive. Guests are welcome to set up their own barbecue or campfire for warm alfresco soirées (sensible locations away from the pitches only please, peeps) and individual firepits, wood and kindling are available to request on arrival for an extra charge. All the basics are provided for a comfy stay: the toilet and shower block is sited on the accommodation field, and has separate facilities for ladies and gents.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked A lovely countryside campsite, but still only 10 minutes from Narberth, which is a brilliant little town to wander around. The owners were incredibly helpful and made sure that we were parked where we were not going to get stuck, given the severe weather warning predicted overnight.

From the manager: Thank you very much for staying with us and for your kind review. Well done for braving the weather! Hope that you can come back again sometime soon.

With a few more finishing touches this place would be perfect.

16-amp powered grass campsite

Liked The immaculate field & peaceful location. Lovely and dog friendly, close to local attractions and amenities.

Disliked The proximity of the pitches to each other. They were far too close for both Privacy and fire safety. The staff were friendly and were often about.. We chose not to complain as we didn't want to make a fuss for us or our neighbours.

The facilities were basic, the toilets were clean but the showers less so. No bins appeared to be emptied during our stay and main bins at the entrance were spilling over and had no lids.

Clean peaceful friendly people highly recommended value for money

Derwen camping pod

Liked Peaceful location but I was only person there.stayed in one of the clamping pods equipped with a fridge microwave kettle and a oil heater shower and toilet block 200yards away and clean.
Nearest shop is a drive away and narbeth is convenient for supermarket Liz bakery is noteworthy of a mention homemade lasagne and macaroni cheese is sublime as are the cream cakes pub up the road is hit and miss and doesn't do food I decided just to get carry out wood can be bought on site for a fire pit and there are barbacues available staff very helpful informing you of everything local and was met on arrival

Disliked Found matress a bit too soft but slept OK
Outdoor chairs are tired

From the manager: Many thanks for your review and for staying with us. Outdoor table and chairs to be renewed this next week. Apologies that you didn't benefit from this! Toilets are actually only 37 yards away. Maybe you took the scenic route!

Conin camping pod

Liked Very quite and peaceful place.
Owners are very decent and helpful
The pod is very clean and well equipped

Disliked Toilets are far from the pods

Preseli camping pod

Liked We loved this camping site , warm welcome from Owner , lots of space for kids to play ,well looked after site - showers lovely and hot and clean .

We stayed in a pod for one night immaculate inside - helpful to have fridge & kettle - we usually camp - it was good to only need to bring towels and a few cups/ plates - we had fish & chips at the beach for dinner - so didn’t need to bring our mini camping cooker - there’s a microwave in the pod , bed comfy in pod & warm
Fire pit/ logs you can hire - very good value - generous amount if logs/ kindling & paper . My kids- 10 & 12 were pleased about the usb chargers on the plug and eldest good phone connection - they were out on the field for most of early evening though , kicking a ball and playing with other kids 👍
It’s a good base in a beautiful area & is a safe and friendly site . It’s a good place for looking at the stars
Excellent value - I’d highly recommend Thanks , we enjoyed our stay here :)

From the manager: Thank you so much for this very full and comprehensive review. We're really glad that you enjoyed yourselves and hope that you can return again soon. Thanks again.

Local attractions

Half an hour’s drive takes you down to the beaches of the south coast, including the sandy stretches at Saundersfoot and Tenby, from where you can also take a boat trip out of the harbour to try your luck spotting the local seals. Active types can pick up the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from Tenby to take a ramble along part of its 186-mile length in search of cliffs, coves and castles; a popular stretch is the eight-mile section from Tenby to Manorbier Castle. Those who’d rather take to the sea can hire motorboats, kayaks and jetskis in Tenby, or have a go at waterskiing or wakeboarding. Surfing types can head west to Newgale, just over half an hour away and a well known fave for boarders. There’s always a castle nearby in this part of Wales, and at Y Bwthyn your nearest examples are Picton Castle, 20 minutes away, and Laugharne Castle, half an hour’s drive away. Picton looks like a classic castle from the outside, but has been restored inside as a smart stately home – a rather fab mash-up of styles. Leave time to walk through the woods and visit the Secret Owl Garden, too. Laugharne, in contrast, is an atmospheric ruin that overlooks the Taf estuary and provides some imagination-firing glimpses into 12th-century life. Oakwood Theme Park and the Blue Lagoon waterpark are both around a 20-minute drive away.
