  • Peaceful, scenic and secluded site in pretty woodland valley
  • A 30-minute drive from Oakwood Theme Park and 35 from Cardigan
  • Pembrokeshire Coast National Park within a 10-minute drive
In need of a break from the same old drudgery? Let your hair down at Digs in the Wig, a family-friendly Pembrokeshire site 25 minutes’ drive from Cardigan. The site is nicely secluded, set back from the road in a woodland valley and crisscrossed with foxglove-lined paths. It’s peaceful too… numbers are kept deliberately small so that pitches are far enough apart to be private (but close enough to allow for socialising, if meeting the neighbours appeals). Pitches have private eco toilets too, so no accidental midnight rendezvous... It’s an adventurers' paradise around here as well, if days in nature beckon: the edge of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is less than 10 minutes from base for biking and hiking, horse riding, birdwatching and stargazing, and sandy beaches are within easy reach at Cwm yr Eglwys and Newport (both about half an hour away). Fresh coastal breezes and lengthy rambles along the Wales Coast Path (which can be joined half an hour from the site) may get appetites fired up – handily there are firepits dotted around the site for toasty outdoor eats, and self-contained spaces for cooking and eating give some indoor options too.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Nature is all around us, we sit in front of a nice camp fire with marshmellows and listening to the birds the animals nature is all around us.

Disliked Some campers are very loud late at night, however with a simple message to the owner and it was quiet.
The pool is not open to the public campers and needs to be booked which is good for having privacy, you and your family? However, I would suggest lowering of the price or including time slots For campers.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked I fell in love with this little piece of camping heaven. To have a spot away from the crowds with your own compost toilet and sheltered area to sit and cook in was perfect. The peacefulness and sounds of nature around you added to it all and the owners are super friendly and helpful if needed but give you your space at the same time. The acres of land to roam on and farm animals greeting you added to the charm. I couldn’t recommend this campsite more, all I would add is take your earplugs if your a light sleeper as the early morning chorus from the birds was beautiful but very loud.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Fantastic campsite. Economy friendly, convenient kitchen "hut", drinking water tap and toilet per plot. It's wild camping with convience and my 8 year old son absolutely loved it! We had a secluded space with trees all around us which sheltered us from the weather. Friendly people and the pool is an added bonus. I could honestly live there, its so peaceful, listening to cows and sheep in the morning. Showers were quirky and hot. Also very central. Can't wait to go back!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Lovely to have our own secluded spot. The kitchen was a game changer and was great to have somewhere to hide when it rained and drinking water tap. Plus the compost loo was so good to save long trips in the dark. Swimming pool was fab to have to ourselves and staff were really helpful. Great location too. Will definitely be coming back!

Disliked Nothing. It was perfect.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked A beautiful campsite with sheltered, private tent pitches nestled down in the woods.
The little kitchen shed in each pitch is a brilliant idea and gave us some additional sheltered space to cook, sit and eat on wet days.
The pool is great!

Local attractions

The only downside to this site is how close it is to Oakwood Theme Park and Folly Farm. Rest assured: once the kids find out it’s just half an hour’s drive to both, that’ll be entire hols behind the wheel ferrying them to and fro for hair-raising rides at the former and zoo visits and a fairground at the latter… If they’re miraculously convinced to try something else, there’s plenty to choose from. Make the most of proximity to beaches and spectacular Welsh coastline by heading out for some sea kayaking, surfing, windsurfing or sailing, all within about half an hour of base, or opt for more controlled sea-like environments with a pitstop at Pembrokeshire Wake Park or Blue Lagoon waterpark, both within 25 minutes. There’s history aplenty too, starting with Scolton Manor 15 minutes away. Stately pile aficionados will find lots to learn in the Victorian era gaff, while green-fingered guests will get a particular buzz from wandering the walled garden and visiting the Pembrokeshire Beekeeping Centre. (Don’t forget to pick up a jar of Scolton Manor honey as a wee souvenir). Pembroke Castle, Melin Tregwynt mill and Castell Henllys are each worth a visit too (all within 45 minutes), but more thrill-seeking types might gravitate more towards Wood Park Off-Road, where clambering into a 4x4 and battering along is the order of the day.
