  • Self-catering family-run site right on the Isle of Anglesey coast
  • Haven for walkers: Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path crosses the site
  • A 30-minute drive from Bangor and 45 from Holyhead
It’s back to basics at Arfor Camping, a tents-only site in the coastal village of Moelfre on the Isle of Anglesey, where it's all about nature, the ocean and your own two feet. Arfor is well-placed for rambling: the 130-mile-long Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path passes directly by the site, running around the island’s entire coastline and passing some of Anglesey’s most spectacular spots. Keep a watchful eye out for peregrine falcons, choughs, terns and seals on your travels; on a calm summer’s day, you may even spy porpoises swimming by in the cove… Rest your weary legs back on the two-acre green-field site, where you can kick up your feet and relax with views over the sea to Puffin Island and the Great Orme at Llandudno. There's little to interfere with the peace, but the site has essential amenities including running water and portable toilets in the accommodation field. When it comes time to carb-load for the next day – or if, you know, you’re just hungry – Moelfre village centre is a few minutes' stroll away. Pull up a pew in the pub or café for food or pick up a takeaway from the chip shop, then treat yourself to an ice cream from the local parlour. You deserve it… Please note that Arfor Camping is not able to accept campervans or motorhomes.

Amazing sea views & Welsh Coastal Path access! Clean site & loos. Basic but peaceful with spacious pitches. Close to beaches/walks. Minor notes: no showers/wash-up, some tight/sloping pitches.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Best camp site view I’ve ever had. Right on the coastal path. Short walk to restaurants/pubs/ice cream. Easy check in process

Disliked Toilets are portaloos so facilities are quite basic. Don’t let you put this off though it was clean and absolutely manageable.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The views were exceptional, very clean site with clean portaloos. Nice big space, as we were a group of 5 girls we really appreciated the fact we could choose where to pitch up our tent and moved away from others to avoid disturbing them.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Small, quiet site with designated spaces. Right on Welsh Coastal Park, fantastic views of sea. Short walk to pub, cafe and fish and chips in Moelfre along coastal path. Would definitely come here again although see comments below.

Disliked This was a site with very basic facilities including portable toilet and tap with water. Whilst this was not an issue for us, the lack of somewhere to wash plates and pots etc would have been a bit difficult if staying for a longer period. But. if only doing simple things that don’t need a good clean this would not be a problem as there are plenty oof eating options nearby. Price quite expensive given lack of shower and washing facilities.

Liked Ease of pitching up, simple camping.
It wasn't crammed there was more than enough room for everyone.
Views were amazing
Location perfect, close to the beach and on the coastal path

Disliked No dislikes, the toilets are sufficient enough for a night or two. We only stayed a night and new what to expect so it was fine for us

Local attractions

If you don’t feel like spending your break trekking through dunes, marshes and farms, there’s plenty on the Isle of Anglesey to see without having to follow the coastal path. You can start close to home by calling over to Moelfre Lifeboat Station – Arfor Camping’s next-door neighbour – for a tour, or watch for the regular launches while you're lazing around on site. Take a look inside South Stack Lighthouse at Holyhead, explore the stunning Ynys y Fydlyn beach, wander the Hidden Gardens at Plas Cadnant, visit Plas Newydd House and Gardens and embrace your inner twitcher at Cemlyn Nature Reserve… all are within 45 minutes' drive. Your stay on the Isle of Anglesey doesn’t have to feel like you’re in the middle of the ocean – you can make your way to the mainland across Menai bridge or the spectacular Britannia bridge, and Arfor Camping is only 30 minutes from Bangor, where you can dive in and out of shops, restaurants and museums all the day long. Once you’re on the mainland, get your fill of grand buildings with visits to Penrhyn Castle and Caernarfon Castle, both around 30 minutes from Arfor.
