  • Dog-friendly Anglesey pop-up site with views of the sea and Snowdonia
  • Walking distance from beaches, the coastal path and summit trails
  • Walk to the pub, seafood restaurant and café; shops a short drive out
Wake up and walk the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path, or perhaps challenge yourself to a local hill summit. Based on the northwest coast of Anglesey, you’ll have lots of choice over how to spend your time from Llain Ffynnon Camping. A morning brew over the site's sea views? Taking the 15-minute walk down the closest beach for a quick dip in the sea? Or perhaps you’d rather go for a dog walk towards the mountains (after all, dogs are welcome here too). You’ll need a good pair of shoes, that’s for sure. One of the big perks of this site is that it’s easy to get to many places on foot. The local pub in Church Bay is only half an hour’s walk away. It’s also on the way to the rockpools at Porth Swtan beach (40 minutes’ walk) or the seafood restaurant and café close to the shore. You’ll get an idea of the splendid walks around these parts just from glancing at the views from this site. Based quite high up, Llain Ffynnon Camping doesn’t just have views over the northwest coast – you'll catch Snowdonia's mountains, Ireland, the Isle of Man and the northwest of England on a clear day too. The site is only a short walk from access points to several well-maintained public footpaths, including one with access to the Mynydd y Garn summit. If you need to pack some snacks and sandwiches before you go, there are two local food shops in Llanfaethlu or Tregele, 10 minutes’ drive from the site. Please note that this is a pop-up site, so there are only cold-water shower and toilet facilities available.

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Llain Ffynnon Camping, run by an absolutely lovely Family, it was a pleasure to meet them. The most beautiful amazing views. Immaculate bathrooms. Fantastic base camp for walkers, water sports etc. Fabulous places to visit Trearddur Bay, Holyhead, Southstack lighthouse to name but a few. We can't wait to go again.

Primitive grass and earth travel trailer campsite

Liked Fantastic sea views from the site. Quiet with plenty of room between pitches. Owners very friendly and helpful. Facilities were clean. Pub within 20minute walk downhill and great value.

Disliked The showers were cold water only with no electricity on site. There are no nearby amenities other than the pub. It's about 40min walk to a restaurant and cafe plus beach.

Primitive grass and earth travel trailer campsite

Liked Large spacious campsite where you can pitch anywhere. Clean facilities which consisted of 3 toilets and 4 portaloos. Stunning views. Close (a short drive) to church bay which was perfect for a sunny day on the beach.

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The owners are lovely, it's a well looked after camp site, very relaxed and friendly. The facilities are as clean as can be during busy time of year. Definitely would recommend.

The site is a bit busy but obviously that's going to be dependent on what time of year you're here. Lots of kids and dogs running around which you would expect but may not be to everyone's preference. But it was fine for us with a reactive rescue dog as we were out most of the day and were only really on site to eat and sleep!

We only stayed for a night so didn't end up using the showers so I couldn't comment on those.

Very close to Church Bay and local pub! 20 minute walk but it is uphill on the way back so could take longer for those who need a bit more time.

Disliked It's an open site so pitch wherever you can as there aren't designated spaces however because the site is on the side of a hill it may be harder to find larger level spaces for bigger groups to camp together. Definitely bring levelling blocks for any cars with roof tents etc.

Lots of dogs and kids running around which may not be to everyone's taste and obviously is going to be dependent on the time of year as well. I wouldn't say it's a big enough camp site to completely avoid those if that is your preference.

Having running water on a campsite is a privilege but we did hear some people struggled with the water pressure in the showers if other people are using the washing facilities or drinking water tap. Makes sense but may be of note to some people to save showering for the quieter times of the day. Rose early to do our washing up and it was no issue at all.

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked lots of space, nice view

Disliked only one shower with cold water, one sink for washing dishes. This is not enough for 150-200 people at the same time

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The view, the casual friendly atmosphere, remote

Disliked Not really a dislike but as it was peak summer if everyone was trying to wash up, shower, use the toilet etc. the water flow/pressure would really struggle.

Primitive grass and earth travel trailer campsite

Liked We really liked this camp site. It's camping as it used to be. Pick your own spot. Lots of space even though it was busy. Beautiful scenery and watching the sun go down from our pitch. Very clean facilities, even the portaloos! Friendly staff who were helpful and knowledgeable

Disliked A little remote. Although it's a nice walk to the village/beach, it is 40-50 mins and all up hill on the way back! So you need to drive if you want to take best beach equipment such as paddle boards, chairs etc.

Local attractions

You might first spot the Goleudŷ Ynysoedd y Moelrhoniaid (The Skerries Lighthouse) from the Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path. Up close, after a chartered boat ride from Holyhead (25 minutes’ drive), the view is even better, and the birdwatching just as splendid. The seabird colony at Cemlyn North Wales Wildlife Trust Reserve (10 minutes’ drive) is pretty spectacular to watch too. A shingle ridge, lagoon and plants such as sea kale and sea campion are part of the highlight reel at this place – just the thing if you're a fan of spying on wildlife. Those of you who are planning on spending a lot of your downtime beside the sea will be happy to find that there are a number of beaches that are easy to get to from Llain Ffynnon Camping. In fact, the National Trust’s Traeth Ynys y Fydlyn is half an hour’s walk away, and there are caves and rockpools to rummage around down there. Further out, other gorgeous beach locations include Cemlyn Bay (15 minutes’ drive), Porth Trwyn (10 minutes) and Traeth Porth Wen Beach (15 minutes).
