Rhuallt country park is in the clwydian valley

  • Adults-only park just outside St Asaph
  • All sizes of tourers welcome on unlimited-size pitches
  • Bar and restaurant on site; dogs welcome
Come to the Clwydian Range, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty among north Wales's culture, walking trails and miles of tracks for pedalling – and with the coast just a few miles away. And then come camping at Rhuallt Country Park, a peaceful and family-run touring park minutes from the A55, with stunning views across fields up into the Clwydian range, and a friendly welcome for all. The team mission is to ensure guests have a peaceful and relaxed time in these scenic surroundings: if you need anything or would like suggestions on where to go in the area, the staff are always happy to help. All tourers big and small are welcome at Rhuallt on its unlimited-sized pitches. Of an evening, settle down in the site bar and restaurant, the White House, for dinner and drinks; lunch and a la carte menus are available too as well as seasonal daily specials. The friendly welcome on site extends to canines too as Rhuallt is dog-friendly, and pooches can scamper freely on the area's dog-friendly sands or tail wag their way along miles of lanes nearby. Rhuallt is an adults-only site, but you may see some children on site as some of the seasonal pitches are let to families.

Liked: Beautiful setting, ideally placed for travelling to numerous places of interest.
Friendly greeting upon arrival, super large pitch, fully serviced. Wonderful restaurant on site, serving delicious food, friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere in the restaurant.

Disliked: No grocery shop on site.
Spa a tad expensive! Given the cost of the pitch per night, I personally think the Spa could do with being a slightly cheaper price, or at least give caravanners the opportunity to use just the swimming pool.... currently the only option available, is to pay £20 for two hours in the Spa.

From the manager: Hi. Thank you for your review. We're glad that overall you enjoyed your stay. Sorry you weren't notified about the event at the White House. We do send out an email about 2 weeks before any event to all people booked on to the park but that does miss out anyone who books in those last 2 weeks. Kind regards Simon & Kay (Warden Team)

Liked: What a lovely site .really impressed the location was spot on, close to the coast less then 20min by car . We went for my husbands birthday. Ate in the white house hotel and spar and restaurant on the entrance to the park . Fab you could park car by your van and walk through . Beautiful meal and settings . Unfortunately we were thereon a few nights when my husband was taken ill . And was admitted to GLAN CLYWD hospital . Where he stayed for 5 nights we were unsure if he needed surgery . Fortunately he didn't. I stayed on the site by myself . I can honestly say that I didn't feel scared being in van by myself . The security on site was fab . And the wardens were fantastic . They enquired daily and Simon the warden assisted me when I had a melt down .after I over loaded the electric and tripped the electric switch . Nothing was to much trouble . Jackie in the office was really understanding and measured me all would be OK and they would accommodate the van and myself until my husband was well enough for us to return home . They even moved our van to another pitch because ours was booked out and they could not change it . What a holiday . But the site wardens Simon and kay helped me cope through a really stressful full time . The amenities were fantastic showers and toilets were spotless . Laundrette was a god send with getting my husbands pj's and towels washed and dried . The site grounds maintenance was beautiful . Thankyou all at the rhuallt for everything we will deffo be coming again and recommend this site to all thankyou

Disliked: There was some noise from a retirement and wedding party and the white house venue . But we were informed and the music stopped when the said . It was nice to see the wedding and enjoy the sound of the children laughing and playing

Liked: Pitch 29 completely level opposite facilities is good as are all the pitches. Both Kay & Simon were so friendly & helpful nothing too much trouble. The Dog Walk is suffice for basic doggie toilet but what a pity on each of the 3x days we were there I picked up after other dog parents the owners are correct therefore to restrict this half perimeter walk of the field, which fortunately is fenced off. There are walks for the dogs if you do the homework & the beaches particularly at Prestatyn are brilliant from the site to all areas we visited everything is so clean & litter free. The toilet & hot showers are great always clean. Everything you need is in hand. True there’s no shop but 5 min drive & you can soon get what you might need. There were 2x parties whilst we were there which yes we could hear the bass but only slightly & it did stop @ 12. We neither heard nor saw any of the guests. We enjoyed & will return to this site.

Disliked: Smoke that comes from chimney on facilities block when the hot tub in spa is fired up. Obviously this is dependent on which way the wind blows but it does not last long & soon disappears within a minute or two just surprises you when you first see it.

Local attractions

Did you know there is such a thing in the world as a people-powered rollercoaster? There is indeedy, at nearby GreenWood Forest Park, home of the planet's only human-powered rollercoaster and several times voted best family attraction in Wales. This is an eco-friendly activity centre with rides, live shows, play areas, crafts and furry/feathered inhabitants: prepare to spend the full day... On the coast, check out the water-powered critters (sharks!) of SeaQuarium at Rhyl, or take trips around the coastline to Prestatyn, Abergele, Conwy Bay and onto Wales's biggest seaside resort Llandudno: another record breaker is here as the town has the longest toboggan run in Britain. Snowdonia National Park is to the west of Rhuallt and is probably the most-visited area for walkers in this part of Wales, but hiking types have heaps more to pick from, like the Clwydian Range and the Vale of Clwyd inland and the Llŷn Peninsula and coastal paths of Anglesey towards the water. The National Cycle Network Route 5 runs along the fairly easy miles from Rhyl to Prestatyn, but if you fancy something a bit more hair-raising, mountain biking trails like the ones at Coed Llandegla Forest are easy to get to from Rhuallt Country Park and have lanes divided by ability so that the experienced can really hurtle along.
