  • Well-located simple site just outside Capelulo in Eryri National Park
  • Penmaenmawr beach five minutes' drive; 10 minutes to Conwy Castle
  • Easy access from A55; dogs welcome; pub three minutes' walk
This is a nifty location for a North Wales outdoor break – Y Glyn Fields is right at the top end of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and only a couple of miles from the coast, putting you within easy reach of both countryside outings and seaside days. There’s easy access from the A55 North Wales Expressway and the coastal cycle path… and, perhaps most importantly, the local pub is only three minutes’ walk away… This laidback little site is just outside the village of Capelulo (which has a village shop and bus stop as well as the aforementioned pub) and five minutes’ drive from Penmaenmawr, a slightly larger town that has a convenience store, a pub, a café and a cluster of takeaways. A gym is opposite the site, and just a 10-minute walk away is a golf club that also serves food and drink. It’s a fairly simple setup here, with families, groups and dogs all welcome. Facilities stretch to just portable toilets, but you're welcome to bring along a barbecue, and you can add a gazebo or pup tent to your booking for a bit of extra living space if you like. It should be pretty easy to fill your days around here – there are heaps of outdoor activities around the national park and along the coast, and it’s easy to get to heritage sites like Conwy Castle or Llandudno’s Victorian pier. For a change of scenery, it’s also only about a 20-minute drive to the Menai Bridge for a day over on Anglesey.

What customers say

Lovely, peaceful setting with hill & sea views. Guests liked the quiet vibe & friendly owners. Basic portaloos are clean. A simple, sloping field w/ a toilet, but good value. Sheep might bother dogs.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Not a lot to be honest. Field was on a hill so it made it very difficult to find a pitch level where we didn’t end up at the bottom of our tent in the middle of the night. However, the two port-a-loos were very clean with some very nice smelling soap in them and ample amounts of toilet roll

Our second night, we were the only two in the bottom field which was actually lively as we played music and did what we wanted, very nice.

The view of the hills were stunning too!! I think we picked the best week away to travel Great Britain!!!

Disliked The Fairy Glen 3 mins down the road was crap!!! If you like crap customer service, Bookers food marked up by 80% and extortionate prices then this is the place to be. You’d be far off better walking 20 mins down the road to the Gladstone.

Unfortunately, we won’t be returning!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Myself, partner and a small group of friends camped here last weekend and really enjoyed the site. Although back to basics- no water supply, there are two porta cabins which when we stayed were beyond expectation for cleanliness.
The site is divided into two fields and we chose the lower with the beautiful oak tree and gorgeous back drop of the hills and also a glimmer of the sea.
Quiet at night, no one played any music day or night.
Park along the tree line in bottom field for maximum sun time :)

Disliked Not particularly a dislike but there were a few sheep in the fields, we took two dogs with us and it was difficult to keep their focus on anything but the sheep.
For a site that accepts dogs I’d personally suggest the sheep go.

Exiting the bottom field requires a run up if you’re in a front wheel drive.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Such lovely views, shelter from trees which helped when the rain hit, short walk to the shop, clean portaloos

Disliked The field is on quite a steep hill which wouldn’t have been an issue but we pitched up at the bottom due to that being one of the only flat areas for the tent, this meant we had to go up the hill everytime we needed to use the portaloos, taking about 10 minutes each time, would love more accessibility.
