  • Rural site on a family-run working farm in Llandrinio
  • A 10-minute drive to Welshpool; 35 minutes to Lake Vyrnwy
  • Severn Way passes through the farm; local pub a few minutes' walk
Perhaps you’re planning a long-distance hike, or maybe you’re more of a leisure stroller… either way, Trinio Camping is in a most handy spot for all sorts of rural walks. This friendly family-run Mid Wales farm site is in the little village of Llandrinio, surrounded by gorgeous Powys countryside and with views up to Admiral Rodney’s Pillar and Breidden Hill. It’s a laidback place with pitches across several paddocks and simple facilities in the form of toilets, showers, chemical disposal and a washing-up area. Getting out to explore on foot could barely be easier, as the Offa’s Dyke Path is close by and the Severn Way passes right through the fields on site. If you’ve got other outdoor pursuits in mind, quad biking, golf, go karting, paintballing, horse riding, mountain biking and watersports are all nearby too, and there are plenty of fishing spots, castles, gardens and historic buildings around for those seeking a quieter time. Although this is a properly rural site, it’s not hidden away down lots of little winding lanes, so getting out and about should be straightforward. Having the A483 nearby means you can get to Welshpool in about 10 minutes and Oswestry in 15; heading over the border to Shrewsbury should take only a little longer at about 25 minutes. Closer to home, a few minutes’ walk will get you up to the village centre for a popular local pub and a well-stocked shop where you can pick up all the bits you need for a picnic or an evening by your barbecue.

What customers say

This campsite gets kudos for spotless facilities, roomy, level spots, and gorgeous views. Owners are always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. It's handy for pubs and shops. Most have a great time, though a few noted slight road noise and wished for more showers at busy times. Highly recommended for a peaceful, well-kept stay.

Liked This is a great site. Plenty of room on each pitch. Toilets/showers are spotless. The owners are friendly and always around if needed. There’s a pub 15 minutes walk away and a good shop 5 minutes further on then the pub. Also lots of walks close by. We will definitely be returning.

Disliked Just need a few more showers. Everything else is perfect

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Delightful camp site, with stunning views of the Breiddens and the River Severn and Severn way path close by.The tents without hook up are in a separate spacious field which makes for quiet camping. The field is still near to toilets and showers and is level, flat and easy to put pegs in!( most u usual). The toilets, wash basins and showers are spotlessly clean and very attractive. A plus for me was the many hooks to hang clothes, wash bags and towel etc.i. the cubicles. There were well-ordered and clearly labelled bins for recycling and refuse. Everything seems to have been considered to make camping pleasurable and easy. We were even encouraged to sample ripe apples from the orchard!

Disliked Hard to find one.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We were met with a very warm welcome for 7 nights of camping. The pitches were a good size and clearly marked out. It was a busy site for the weekend, but great to see families enjoying quality time together, but also very peaceful with beautiful views and surroundings. Super clean facilities, washing up area and good area for recycling rubbish. We were encouraged to sample apples and plums from their many trees, the plums were absolutely beautiful. A nice little freezer for ice pack usage. The site was very level and very well looked after, owners were very attentive and caring, they walked over very pitch meticulously checking it over for the next guests. Great location with a super, well stocked nearby shop, which sold Calor gas too. Good location for walks and access to the River and historical features around the bridge nearby. Good area to visit Rodneys Pillar, Lake Vyrnwy is an absolute must to visit. Cute little church nearby too. Great to see caring owners checking on everyone on their quad. Beautiful area for nice sunsets and start gazing, we were lucky to see shooting stars on a lovely clear evening. Great for watching buzzards, red kites and listening to nearby owls. Thank you for a relaxing stay.

Liked Trinio campsite is a lovely campsite with an absolutely beautiful view. Great walks and local pubs and shops very close. All the facilities were very clean. There is also a freezer to store ice packs which is very handy! Very friendly staff.

Liked The owners were very nice.

Disliked We actually didn’t stay the night. We were not informed the a boys football team were also staying the same night. After the second football bounced off our motorhome we decided that a tranquil night was impossible. As we were leaving we discovered that there was an adult only area. Instead we were put amongst the footballers, the nearest tent being less than 2m away.

From the manager: We welcome all ages on site and this includes families. During the peak of the school summer holidays, it is inevitable that there will be children playing. We are not an adult only site and do not have a separate adult area. You were not given a pitch amongst footballers, you merely just had a family next to you with young children. You chose to pitch the wrong way around, which put you in close proximity to that family and the other side of you were two empty pitches. We have large 10m pitches and with your van only being 2.5m there should be no reason for you to be that close to anyone. Unfortunately, we cannot control who chooses to book, but always do our best to oblige campers’ requests if we can. You were offered an alternative pitch, but chose to leave with no warning. We accommodated your early arrive without any notice and you went fishing without permission from the owners. Unfortunately, we didn’t meet your expectation, but maybe no site will. We didn’t appreciate your rudeness after we went out of our way to try and keep you happy.

Clean and tidy all over the camp site.

Local attractions

Spotted Breidden Hill from the site? Head over to take a closer look – it’s only about 10 minutes away by car and has a circular walking route to follow. For other walks nearby, take a stroll through Llanymynech Rocks Nature Reserve (10 minutes’ drive) or seek out the waterfall trail to Pistyll Rhaeadr (35 minutes). Lake Vyrnwy (35 minutes) is another fine place for a walk, either taking the lakeside route or following the sculpture trail, and it also has watersports activities including kayaking and windsurfing. And if all of that sounds a bit exhausting, maybe a ride on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway (25 minutes) will suit? For different days out, have a taste of local history with visits to Powis Castle and Garden (20 minutes) and Chirk Castle (half an hour) or board a canal boat to float across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct (half an hour). The sculpture trails at the British Ironwork Centre (20 minutes) make for a fascinating outing too.
