Sunny, level premier pitches at rockbridge park
Our sky viewing dome, to look at the night skies. with the rolling welsh hills behind.

  • Peaceful escape in a dark skies community on the Welsh border
  • Riverside setting a mile from the market town of Presteigne
  • Dog-friendly site; stargazing dome with telescope
Sitting alongside the River Lugg and with views of the hills, Rockbridge Park is a super spot for a relaxing break away from busy everyday life. This small family-run site on the Wales-England border is within easy reach of days out around the countryside, plus the villages and towns of Powys and beyond.
When not roaming the region, spend time lying back on site with your nose in a book, fishing in the river or setting off on strolls nearby. Even a wander around the site has its rewards – look out for the dragonfly and wind sculptures, then relax by the waterfall while you take in the views. Four-legged friends are welcome to join you here too – they’ll be able to scamper around at the secure dog walk or accompany you on one of the many trails running from the park. And don’t worry about them getting into muddy puddles – a dog wash back on site will take care of that. Facilities for human guests are nicely thought out too, with wifi, hot showers, a launderette and a fridge among the provisions. The highlight, however, surely has to be the stargazing dome – kitted out with a telescope and bean bags, it’s a great spot to take advantage of Rockbridge being in a ‘dark skies community’. Heading out, it’s a five-minute drive to Presteigne, a traditional Welsh market town with a good selection of pubs, restaurants, takeaways, cafés and shops (most of them dog-friendly). For other places to visit nearby, chat to the team on site – they’ve always got lots of top tips to dish out.

What customers say

This immaculate, riverfront site boasts spacious pitches & spotless facilities, incl. private showers & a dog wash. Guests love the friendly staff & tranquil setting, perfect for walks. Enjoy dark skies, an observatory telescope & great WiFi. A few noted limited kids' play areas & push-button showers, but most guests highly recommend it & plan to return.

Powered grass campsite (riverside)

Liked The site is lovely and maintained well. The toilets and shower block was very clean. Great location with pathways to explore into the town. The star dome was very impressive.

Disliked Could do with a bistro or bar for snacks and goodies.

Powered grass campsite (riverside)

Liked Lovely peaceful site which was well maintained. Perfectly flat grass pitch which was ideal for our tent box. The welcome pack was thoughtful and we used it to walk to the local town.

Disliked The star gazing dome was a wonderful idea, however we took the kids up at 11pm - it was a beautifully clear night but we couldn’t get the telescope to work. Two other families joined us and had the same issue so we left here disappointed. There is a laminated sheet with the telescope which shows the labelled dials - not sure if it’s faulty or needs better instructions.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Stream
General atmosphere was very chilled
Good off lead dog field
Flat pitches
Trying hard to be eco friendly
Gave lots of useful information upon arrival

Disliked Small thing - A lot of bright lights on electric points at night - seems unnecessary (especially given the dark skies status)

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Great site with good sized pitches.
There was stunning scenery all round, site was lovely and peaceful despite being a busy bank holiday weekend. Only noise regularly heard was the cows!
Everywhere was lovely and clean at all times.

Check in was quick and the team had lots of information to share. They gave us a welcome packed filled with things to do, see and information/history on the local area, lovely touches.

Would definitely recommend!

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Pitch space. Care of land. Wash rooms clean at all times. Organisation of recycling. Helpful and friendly staff.
Most guests were clean, tidy & respectful regarding noise in the evening.

Disliked One visitor with 2 small dogs frequently had dog off lead & it ended up in other people’s tents etc. Not all people are comfortable with dogs of any size.
People flashing lights outside of statics or caravan / tent.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked We had a very large level pitch next to the river. The staff were friendly and helpful. Showers and loos were clean as was the washing up area and the elsan point. The recycling/waste area was the cleanest i have ever seen and had hand sanitiser which is a bonus. On the clear nights the stars were amazing but we did not get to use the telescope as it was very busy. Lovely views of the countryside.
Cannot fault the site at all.

Disliked Just a personal point, you need to drive to get anywhere which meant we had to pack the van up to go out.
There are 2 walks into the village but with a large old dog were not very accessible due to styles on one and no path on the B road on the other

Powered grass campsite (riverside)

Liked We camped in a tent as a family of 4, very spacious area to camp and flat, electric hook up next to the river. Was beautiful! Walks through the fields when you go over the river, also shallow enough so the children could play in it. Toilets and showers were always clean and tidy. They had a washer room with fridge/freezers in. Washing machine and dryer. 3 washing stations. The staff were so welcoming and gave the children an activity pack on arrival, also an envelope with all the near leaflets in. They were all very friendly and gave a good atmosphere for us. Lots of walks within 30 minute drive to and towns to visit. Great atmosphere from all people staying there. Children made lots of friends and everyone was very happy to be relaxing on their holidays. Not that we used it much but good WiFi through the camp when we needed it. The dome is very magical, the children liked going up there for a mini picnic in the day on their bikes and then relaxing in the evening. Such beautiful scenery around it too. An overall very looked after touring/camp site. Highly recommend!

Disliked The only thing which probably isn’t really a dislike is the showers are a push button rather than a turn on so you have to keep pressing it and no way of choosing a temperature you wanted but this isn’t really a dislike. More a preference.

Local attractions

Presteigne is a compact spot but it’s well worth swinging by for a look at The Judge's Lodging, an award-winning museum five minutes’ drive away that gives an insight into the grandeur of the masters’ lives on the top floors versus the servants who lived down below. Not so much further on is Knighton (10 minutes) with its community and arts centres for rainy days, along with a local railway link and access to Glyndŵr's Way for wanders along a path named after a Welsh legend. Another 10 minutes (20 from the park) from there is the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre for a glimpse of animals ranging from miniature horses to nocturnal birds. Top towns are scattered around this rural region too: think Leominster (30 minutes away) for sights like grand Berrington Hall (40 minutes) with its views over to the Black Mountains; the famed book and festival town of Hay-on-Wye (35 minutes); or Ludlow to see the castle and Tudor buildings or peruse posh boutiques (40 minutes).
