Liked A Wonderful Stay in My Motorhome at Thurston Manor, Dunbar
I recently stayed in my motorhome at Thurston Manor, located just outside Dunbar, and it was an incredible experience. The site offers a perfect blend of peace, comfort, and easy access to the local attractions.
Location:
Thurston Manor is tucked away in a quiet countryside setting, which made for a very relaxing stay. While the site is peaceful, it’s still close enough to Dunbar, which is a lovely coastal town. It’s easy to explore nearby beaches, local shops, and restaurants, but also has a tranquil atmosphere that allows you to unwind fully.
Pitch and Facilities:
The pitch I had was spacious and level, offering enough privacy while still being close to amenities. The motorhome facilities were fantastic—there were clean shower blocks, toilets, and a laundry room. The reception also had a small shop for essentials, which was very convenient.
Staff:
The staff at Thurston Manor were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The check-in process was quick and seamless, and they were always available to assist with any questions or provide local recommendations. It was clear they care about making every guest feel welcome.
Local Area & Activities:
Dunbar itself is charming, with beautiful beaches and coastal walks. I spent time exploring the town, enjoying the scenic views, and checking out local restaurants. There’s also a golf course nearby for those who enjoy a round or two.
Overall Experience:
My stay at Thurston Manor was everything I hoped for—peaceful, comfortable, and well-located. The motorhome pitch was perfect, the facilities were top-notch, and the staff made me feel right at home. Whether you’re looking for a quiet retreat or easy access to local attractions, this site ticks all the boxes. I’ll definitely be coming back for another stay!

Great site at a good price and just off the A1.

Liked Huge static site with excellent facilities bars, restaurant and leisure area most of which are also dog friendly.
Disliked The full facility pitch (number 12) which had water drainage etc felt more like being pitched in a car park area alongside 5 other pitches.

We're sorry that Pitch 12 didn’t meet your expectations, and we appreciate you highlighting this. Liked Shop and bar facilities. Good open pitches.
Disliked The road being resurfaced at 8am on a Saturday meant we couldn’t get out of the touring area until after midday. Toilets were not very clean, and strange set up in shower block - double showers?? Bin area was overflowing which the seagulls loved! No WiFi.

From the manager: Thanks for your honest feedback — we're pleased you enjoyed the shop, bar, and spacious pitches. We’re sorry to hear about the issues during your stay, particularly with road access, cleanliness, and the unusual shower layout. Rude

Liked Nothing
Disliked When we arrived no one on reception informed us that at 7:45 the next morning a whole load of tarmac vans and rollers were turning up to tarmac the whole entrance road to the side and front of our pitch. They tarmac’s the whole road from our pitch to the entrance to the pitches. At no point was anyone watching the people on site or vehicles reversing There is only one way in and out which meant we were stuck. My husband went out to speak to the man in the roller to ask if there was an alternative way out. The man told him to stop being a jobs worth and get back in the van. As you can imagine he’s not a happy man.as we sat waiting a young girl on roller skates stuck her finger straight in the tarmac. My husband went to speak to the owner who was just as rude as the workers and wasn’t interested that a little girl could be hurt . We will never go to this site again. Absolutely disgusted.

Liked Pitches are a good size.
Toilets clean.
Staff friendly enough and helpful.
Disliked Pool could do with a good clean. Water cloudy and grime on tiles.
Despite shouting out at bingo, staff apparently didn't hear me. Shouted a second time. All folks sitting around me heard me shout first time, and booed when I wasn't honoured the win. Bit unfair.

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback — we're glad you appreciated the spacious pitches, clean facilities, and helpful staff. We're sorry to hear about the concerns with the pool and bingo experience. We'll look into the pool maintenance and ensure better attentiveness during activities in the future.
