Hilltop 2 bedroom safari tent

Liked This is a gorgeous, luxury dog-friendly tent/cabin in a gorgeous location. The kitchen is stocked with tea and coffee and there's a fridge, hob, oven and microwave. You do need your own shampoo/body wash though! But towels are provided.

Be aware that if you have mobility/accessibility issues it might not be for you as there's quite an uphill walk to get to the pitch. It's also worth paying the £20 extra to have the hot tub pre-heated for your arrival - I could not for the life of me get the fire hot enough to heat the water!

Local attractions

Bring your boots along, because there’s some great countryside to explore around here. The trails alongside the Falls of Clyde and Craignethan Castle (both 15 minutes’ drive) are local favourites, or you could take a stroll around the ‘artland’ at Crawick Multiverse (45 minutes). If it’s raining, head underground for a tour of Biggar’s Museum of Lead Mining (40 minutes) – and maybe try your hand at panning for gold. The New Lanark World Heritage Site (15 minutes) is well worth a visit too, taking you back to life in the 19th-century industrial town and with shops, play areas and picnic spots as well. If you’ve got the kids with you, you may also like to try out Clyde Valley Family Park and Valley View At Gouldings (both five minutes). Although there’s much to enjoy in this rural area, it’s also a good idea to get up to Glasgow (half an hour) to visit its museums and Glasgow Science Centre, browse the shops and try out some of its independent restaurants.
