  • Motorhome pitches at an Angus farm five minutes' drive from Kirriemuir
  • A five-minute drive to Glamis Castle; half an hour to Dundee
  • Dogs and kids welcome; chemical disposal point on site
For a small town, Kirriemuir has an awful lot going for it… This Angus location is often known as the ‘Gateway to the Glens’ – and it’s also a ‘fairytale town’, as it’s the birthplace of Peter Pan creator JM Barrie (now commemorated in several ways around the town, including a museum and a park). On top of all that it’s the home of a traditional music festival, and also has interest for metal fans, who head here to see the life-sized bronze statue of AC/DC frontman Bon Scott. With horse riding, golf and birdwatching on the menu too (along with plenty of places to shop and eat), it makes an excellent base for a break full of variety. About five minutes’ drive from the centre of town is Knocknahushoch Farm, a quiet rural spot that’s got just a handful of motorhome pitches where guests can park up and relax in peaceful surroundings. It’s a simple setup here in terms of facilities – there’s a chemical disposal point but please note you’ll need to be self sufficient for toilet and shower facilities. Dogs and kids are welcome on site, and there should be plenty of space for everyone to stretch their legs on the grass area by the hardstanding pitches. Once you've explored Kirriemuir, there's plenty more to do nearby – perhaps walks in the Angus Glens, an outing to Glamis Castle or a day trip to the various museums and galleries of Dundee (half an hour's drive away).

The Shed power optional cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Fantastic place to stay. Lovely owner, quiet site, immaculately tidy farm. Choice of pitches around their main barn on electric or on the grass of their airstrip. We were next to some lovely cows in the barn. Definitely would stay again. Thank you Gail.

Liked: Great location with extensive views.
Amazing sunrise.
Friendly greeting from owner.
Fairly busy road but quiet enough.
Parked next to shed with some handsome shaggy cows!

Disliked: Not really a dislike but this is a working farm so there are lots of comings and goings.

Windsock primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked: Beautiful site. Level pitches. Welcomed by friendly owner on arrival. Waste and water point available. I had the whole place to myself! It was peaceful. On awakening I watched a family of deer graze and the sun rise above the fields. Loads of grassland for my dog to wander. I would definitely stay again. Well priced at £10/night without EHU.
