Weekend visitors lapping up the sun

  • Simple family-friendly Somerset campsite; pick your own pitch
  • On the edge of Timsbury, 20 minutes' drive from Bath and Wells
  • Firepits and wood available; 10 minutes' walk from the village centre
Loves Hill Camping is a fuss-free pop-up site on the edge of Timsbury. This family-friendly spot is a pleasant place to spend some time, surrounded as it is by lush green hills and given its easy access to beauty spots like the Mendip Hills and the southern Cotswolds. Timsbury is also well-placed for day trips to all those West Country towns and cities you've always meant to visit: Bath (20 minutes' drive), Wells (20 minutes) and Bristol (30 minutes) are all within a short drive, opening up lots of varied day trips and family attractions. The site has plenty of space and operates a 'pick your own pitch' policy, meaning your group is free to roam over its generous grounds until you've found your favourite spot. Loves Hill Camping's facilities include composting toilets and showers. In addition, firepits are available to hire and logs can be picked up from site staff. Loves Hill Camping is conveniently close to the village centre but just far away from the houses and cars to feel properly rural. It'll take you roughly 10 minutes on foot to get to Timsbury's supermarket, pub and fish and chip shop; local bus services can also be flagged down here.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked: Very friendly owner(s), warm, welcoming and helpful.
It had a very relaxed vibe, you can choose your own spot and putting up an awning or parking your car next to a tent wasnt extra, which was great.
The fire pit/ wood for sale and breakfast options were an additional bonus. Great views and countryside feel but close to the village (pub, café, fishnchip shop, shops and playground within walking distance)
Family friendly but also suitable for couples, cyclists/ hikers alike.
Would definitely recommend.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: The pitches were excellent cut out of the long grass gave it a private, wild feel. Nick and his family were super friendly and welcoming.

Disliked: The compost toilets were a little glasto! Not a deal breaker by any stretch but our daughter struggled a little with them and couldn't read h the sink to wash hands. Dedicated food waste recycling would have also been good but that's nitpicking.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked: Loved the opportunity to choose our own pitch, and each pitch area felt secluded even though we had neighbours near by.

Views were great and overall a well laid out and quiet campsite.

Disliked: Only reason I've not given 5 stars, is because of the compost toilets. They do the job, but maybe air freshers in the cubicles would be beneficial.

Liked: A beautiful site with lovely small 'fields' to camp in. Showers were clean and toilets were fabulous for compost loos. Loved the coffee and breakfast sandwiches on offer from the horse box too. Very friendly and safe feeling.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: I was working at the Theatre Royal in Bath, for two weeks. The local accommodation costs were coming in way over the allowance we get, and so I thought, with it being ‘summer’, I’d give it a try! I am so glad I found this site. I had the best time. The check in/out process is so relaxed. The site is in an excellent location for a variety of escapades.
The check-in communication was great. Information on the site and area the same.
My only gripe with this booking was that I booked it for a work stay accommodation and not a holiday, and so I didn’t get to enjoy the fantastic site for the tranquility and nature-connection it offers (the cute tame foxes, deer passing through the field during the day ❤️

Disliked: Not enough time to stay and enjoy the space properly.
