  • Spacious back to basics site in the Mendip Hills
  • A quarter of an hour's drive from Cheddar; Wells 20 minutes
  • Pick your own pitch; buy logs on site for a firepit
Hillcroft Farm is a spacious rural campsite in a scenic setting with far-reaching views over the Mendip Hills and handy access from the B3134. Located in the countryside of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near the hamlet of Nordrach, this site is great for the energetic and those who appreciate hiking, as well as fans of horseback riding, fishing, swimming, climbing and sailing, all of which are on offer in the surrounding area. Alternatively, of course, you may just prefer to kick back in these laidback surroundings and soak up the views, venturing out from time to time to lounge on the beaches at Weston-super-Mare (30 minutes' drive) and Burnham-on-Sea (35 minutes). Hillcroft Farm has a composting toilet block as part of its eco-friendly efforts, along with showers. Coming here also means that you can borrow a firepit (subject to availability) and set it up by your pitch, using only logs purchased on site. The local area has further amenities, and an independent pop-up coffee stand is on hand two minutes' walk down the road for coffee and cake between Monday and Friday (7.30am to 11.30am). Just a little bit further away in Blagdon (five minutes), there's a handy shop, post office and three different pubs to explore.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The view across the fields was lovely, location was also good, remote and easy to find. All the facilities for a pop up campsite were good, especially the nice warm shower, waste separation and compost toilets.

Liked Nice simple campsite, which was spacious with beautiful views. Dog friendly! Facilities were clean. Very quick road into Bristol. Some reviews have complained about the road noise, but I personally couldn't tell.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Owner was lovely, she was helpful and friendly. Facilities were in good order. Nice and simple, really like a basic site. Can pitch where you want. Owners came around with fire pit and logs to buy for the evening.

Disliked Location, right next to a busy road, would have given it a much higher score if it was even a field away from the road
