  • Family campsite on a Dorset farm 15 minutes’ drive from Weymouth
  • Abbotsbury Swannery 15 minutes’ drive; Monkey World 35 minutes
  • Games field, play area and outdoor pool on site
You couldn’t get a more family-friendly site than West Fleet Holiday Farm. At 15 minutes’ drive from Weymouth in Dorset, there’s masses of space to run around, a three-acre play area with swings and slides, and an outdoor swimming pool with glimpses of the sea. There are plenty of helpful facilities on site, including a shop and off-licence carrying all the essentials, as well as showers, washing-up points and a launderette. The site is set in 15 acres of countryside on the Jurassic Coast, within walking distance of Fleet Lagoon (the setting for John Meade Falkner’s smuggling tale ‘Moonfleet’, half an hour’s stroll) and Chesil Beach (about 40 minutes). You can also ramble down to the South West Coast Path along the private farm track (20 minutes) or walk to the local pub in around the same time. Weymouth, its harbour and sandy beaches (15 minutes’ drive) provide excellent family days out and the site is a handy base for exploring family attractions throughout Dorset, like Lyme Regis and Charmouth (both 40 minutes). In keeping with this being a family-centric site, please keep noise to an absolute minimum between 10.30pm and 8am so everyone can get some shut eye.

What customers say

This is a clean, well-organized, and friendly site with excellent toilet, shower, and family bathing facilities. The on-site shop is well-stocked, and the clubhouse offers decent food. The swimming pool is a popular bonus, though access can be restricted. While many praise the cleanliness and peaceful atmosphere, some reviews mention sloping pitches, limited pool hours, and a desire for more accessible facilities for guests with mobility issues.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Good sized pitch, plenty of space for children to play by the pitch and a large play area near reception.
Well maintained modern toilet/shower block, nearby access to drinking water tap.
Lovely swimming pool, no issue booking a slot as site was relatively quiet.
Spacious club house with outdoor seating and small play area.
We enjoyed the farm walk, details shared at book in.

Disliked No dislikes.

It’s not worth the price. It’s bare and uncared for.

Liked The toilets, showers were cleaned regularly.

Disliked The pool only had half an hour to an hour time slots which had to be booked on the day in advance. The pool only opened at 10am and closed at 5pm already.
The playground was bare and there wasn’t much to do at the site.
The entertainment was advertised to be until 4th September along with the pool. However they stopped the shows and performances on 25th August, 1.5 weeks early. So there was absolutely no entertainment either.
The staff at site has been rude and ignorant with being more busy with their phones than attending the reception. Basic questions about pitch setup or opening hours are a struggle to get answers to.
The WiFi available is on a pay per hour basis.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked The location is great to explore Weymouth and surrounding areas.
The pool is a plus although not heated as suggested but we were lucky with the weather.

Disliked Where do I start …..
The pool isn’t monitored so although you have to book a time slot to use it there is no one checking people leave when they should and inflatables aren’t taken in (which they were when we used it - this being one of the very many rules!)

The rules around this site are suffocating with the ranger patrolling at 10.30pm to make sure everyone is back in their caravans - so no star gazing allowed.

Although this site is very much about being quiet - which was nice - it was taken to the next level by the ranger. In fact, I would argue his diesel engine driving around at 10.30pm is more disrupting than people looking at the stars and enjoying the night sky. On one occasion he “hid” behind the trees in the field to make sure that we were not talking whilst looking at the stars!!!

The older lady in the shop was rude and unhelpful and looked annoyed if you dare asked a question.

We were there at the end of August and they had run out of nearly every drink in the clubhouse, whilst I appreciate they’d be closing for the season this is not a standard I would hope for considering our pitch fees where for high season so therefore would expect the same level of service of others who came in high season.

Dogs were welcome in the clubhouse but only those with their barks removed!!! Friends of ours were asked to leave due to their dog barking, however the other family with barking dogs were not asked to leave.

Many others we spoke to on site also felt the rules and militant execution of these really spoilt the site.

We would not return based on this and the lady’s attitude towards paying customers trying to enjoy their holiday.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked When we arrived, we upgraded from a standard tent pitch to electric, which was no problem at all for the friendly, welcoming staff. The play area is great for the kids. Clubhouse had so much entertainment for all ages, I.e Bingo & disco. The food was great and purchasing WiFi when needed was simple.
The swimming pool was simple to book. Only 30 minute time slots but you can rebook for a later time. The pitch sizes were huge and ground was clean and flat toilets and showers were very clean. Everyone respected the noise curfew which is great when you have young children.

Disliked The food, especially the kid's meals, were overpriced in my opinion.

Liked Lovely site, children all out playing, feels very safe and secure. Lots of rules but we liked this as it was perfect for a little family. Lovely clean site and with outdoor pool. Nice park and horses around to see.

Disliked Food in bar wasn’t great and felt expensive for what we got.
One lady in the shop who seemed to be in charge, was very off putting and unapproachable, telling my children off for looking and touching toys in shop.
