  • Well-kept and peaceful park with stunning views of Dorset’s coastline
  • Weymouth and Abbotsbury Swannery both 15 minutes’ drive
  • Licensed shop, modern facilities and South West Coast Path access
Need a good dose of fresh Dorset air? You'll get exactly that at Sea Barn Farm Camping Park, 15 minutes’ drive from Weymouth – along with spectacular views of Fleet Lagoon, Lyme Bay, Chesil Bank and the Isle of Portland straight from the pitches. In fact, the park has probably one of the best views along the Dorset coastline – and if you get your timings right of an evening, you’ll hopefully also witness stunning sunsets over the sea. This 11-acre holiday park is part of a beef and cereal farm with land running right down to Fleet Lagoon, an internationally protected nature reserve and wildfowl haven. It’s about 10 minutes’ walk to the lagoon and the South West Coast Path along the specially created farm walk, which passes a wildlife habitat for bees and birds (please keep any dogs on a lead when on the trail). There’s no need to stray very far from home base once you're installed, as Sea Barn Farm has a licensed on-site shop selling groceries, wines, beers, toys, camping gas and hardware. Other handy facilities include a pristine shower block with underfloor heating, as well as covered washing-up sinks and a fully equipped launderette.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Nothing, because unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to check it out.

Disliked Hopeless customer service. I know perfectly well that I should arrive at the campsite by 7 p.m. Unfortunately, due to business and traffic jams, my family and I were unable to make it to the designated time. I called at 8:10 p.m. to inform them of the delay. The woman automatically said that my paid reservation had been canceled and told me to look for a new place. We tried our best to arrive on time, but the long route and work problems prevented us from doing so. I was told I would be disturbing all the other vacationers. I completely understand. However, three people, parents with a 10-year-old child, arriving at 9 p.m., I don't think they would cause any major problems for the other vacationers. Unfortunately, the woman at the front desk wasn't willing to help in any way.My journey had already lasted two hours, and she told me to go home or find something else. Maybe she was right? I don't know... but I warn others about keeping an eye on the time!

Lovely camp site. Highly recommend

Primitive grass tent campsite (water view)

Liked Liked everything! This place was amazing from the moment we came. It's our second camping trip with the 3 month old baby, and we had so many different campsites before. This one tops everything. We opted out for the Sea View pitch, and it was just amazing to wake up to the amazing views! The facilities were really clean and everything was there as you would expect. The shop has all the essentials, and the team members are really friendly.

Lovely place, will be back. Well located for exploring.

Powered grass RV campsite

Liked Spacious pitches, clean toilet and showers. Easy to find and clear instructions left when reception closed. Farm walk is a good distance and connects to the coastal path. Lots of wildlife and amazing views but a bit windy, you can't have the view without being up high. 😬 Very few occupied pitches when we were there.

Disliked WiFi is payable, vouchers available from reception but only for one device per voucher. Some pitches are at quite sloping.

Absolutely everything! Such a well kept site. Fabulous bathroom block. I’m me…

Powered grass RV campsite

Liked The ground was flat and the whole campsite was empty. If you go right to the hedge and jump, the view is nice.

Disliked Unfriendly staff
Unwelcoming atmosphere.
After being stuck in traffic for hours, when we knew we were going to be 15 mins late past check in, I called to let them know. You'd think I was calling to them them it was the end of the world due to the reaction I got.

From the manager: Thank you for your comments.

Sea Barn Farm is a working farm and a camping park. It has an abundance of wildlife and also a herd of cows and their calves. For these reasons, as stated on our website and in our terms and conditions of booking, we do not allow dogs on any part of the farm or camping park unless they are kept on a lead at all times. This helps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all concerned, including members of our team, other guests and animals on the farm.

As, shortly after arrival, your dog was running uncontrolled off a lead and being called for by you or your companion with little success, a member of our team reminded you, quite justifiably, of your obligations whilst on our premises, to keep your dog leased, as you had agreed to do when made your booking.

If that seems rude or unwelcoming, imagine how we feel about people who blatantly disregard agreements they have made and clearly do not comprehend the damage or distress that can inadvertently be caused by an unleashed dog, whether to other guests, farm animals or wildlife.

Had you done what you had agreed to do, no one would have needed to speak to you about your dog at all.

With reference to our policy on arrival times, for the safety, comfort and enjoyment of all our guests, the latest time of arrival, is, as published on our website and our terms and conditions of booking 7 pm.

This helps to ensure that customers who are already on site are not disturbed by other guests pitching their tents or siting their caravans at times when guests would otherwise be enjoying a relaxing evening.

If guests have not arrived at the time we would expect, we do not think it unreasonable to enquire when they anticipate arriving at our home and place of work.

Would definitely go back

Liked Nice and clean campsite that seemed staffed all night, lovely views over looking Chesil beach, lovely and quiet

Disliked That we were unable to choose our pitch even though the campsite was near empty, I understand when its busy, we wanted a pitch with a better view.

From the manager: Thank you. We are so pleased you enjoyed our lovely views as much as we do. We do have some pitches with a view suitable for campervans available to book. If you had asked we may have been able to accommodate your request. Though that would have been at a different price and pitch type. most of our camper van pitches with a view for the weekend were booked.

Local attractions

Birdwatchers should keep binoculars to hand when wandering about the site, or you can head for Fleet Lagoon (10 minutes’ walk) to watch the antics of Brent geese, coots and terns. Set around a tumbledown medieval monastery, Abbotsbury Swannery (15 minutes’ drive) is famed for its mute swans, with their cygnets hatching during late May and June. There are furry – rather than feathered – friends to be found at Kingston Maurward Animal Park and Gardens (25 minutes) in the shape of donkeys, alpacas and cheeky goats. If the kids haven’t seen enough wildlife by then, no doubt you’ll be heading for Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (40 minutes) to meet the primates or join keeper talks about chimps and gibbons. In the same area, The Tank Museum (35 minutes) is another good option for a day out. Squeeze a little culture into your trip with a tour of Victorian-era Nothe Fort (20 minutes), where you can also take a boat trip around the harbour. If that's not your scene, perhaps the sandy beach and Sea Life Centre at Weymouth (15 minutes) will be more of a hit.
