Grass pitches

  • Spacious pitches on the Dorset coast, overlooking Chesil Beach
  • A 10-minute drive to central Weymouth; 15 mins to Isle of Portland
  • On-site bar for drinks and food; play area and playing field
You’ll be able to squeeze the maximum amount of sea air out of your Dorset coastal break when you stay at East Fleet Farm Touring Park – this spectacular location is on the shores of the Fleet Lagoon, with views over Chesil Beach to the open sea beyond. Having sea views from the site means that you may be tempted to hang around on your pitch, put your feet up and simply take in the scenery for much of your break. And that’s not a bad idea at all – pitches are generously sized, with access to a play area and playing field for kids that may need a bit more activity. The well-stocked shop has various camping/caravan accessories and consumables, and it’s also the place to pick up a newspaper and an ice cream to take back to your camping chair. For more substantial eats, head to the on-site bar, which has an extensive food menu as well as a range of local drinks. It really is worth making the effort to get out and about locally though: there are some stunning walks on the South West Coast Path (which passes next to the site) and plenty of places to go for a bike ride. Weymouth and Dorchester are easily accessed too, as are the watersports of Portland and attractions such as Abbotsbury Swannery.

Liked: The friendly staff, a warm welcome on a rainy Good Friday. The shop was amazing, the daily fresh made to order pastries were amazing! Especially the raspberry croissant! The facilities, the shower pods were a hit with our family. Everything was clean over a busy Easter weekend. The park was amazing for our son - kept him entertained for hours! The bar and restaurant provided good service. The take away fish and chips and pizzas are great - so less cooking! We will definitely be back!

Disliked: Nothing - WiFi limited - but can’t be helped given how many we’re using it over the weekend.

Disliked: The only fault I had was sometimes the bar area needed more staff as the site was very busy and when having busy periods staff were struggling but they were always polite

Liked: The wash/shower rooms.

Disliked: The pitches were too crammed in, the bar prices were extortionately high, the location of our pitch to the children’s play area even though we are two adults in their mid 50s, and the constant dogs barking, even at 05.20 hrs (although out of your control I know, but totally spoilt our weekend), and I feel it’s your responsibility to monitor and resolve this.

Liked: The pitch was great, we were on a grass pitch with electric hook up, really fab spot away in the corner. Great view of the sea. Easily placed hook up and water tap, rubbish point close by etc. The site facilities were mainly good too, the shower block was lovely and clean, big cubicle so handy for taking the kids in with you as well and a toilet and sink all in one bay. The other toilet block next door was also clean as well. Used the onsite laundry, really handy and cheap to use £4 for a wash (provide your own detergent) and the dryer as much as you want it to be 20p for 5 mins and more for longer etc etc.

Disliked: There was only one park for the children and it was not aimed for younger kids. Our 18 month old could only go on the baby swings, the rest was too big/tricky. The park was always over crowded as it is a large site, lots of families etc. I would suggest they looked at placing another smaller park perhaps further to the bottom of the site to cater for everyone.

Secondly, the bar and entertainment overall was poor. The on site bar/restaurant was way over priced and the lady serving was really rude/unprofessional walked off as we approached the bar didn't acknowledge our existence and walked into the back. Another male member staff then came past the bar and also ignored us too. We were told there would be bingo on the Friday and Saturday, decided we would go on the Saturday night to then be told it was cancelled so instead we went to the barn for the live singer... He was shocking and rather quite rude, singing wasn't great either. The bar in the barn was also overpriced and the pizza being served was poor for the price charged.

Overall, we would stay again but would not use the onsite bar or attend any of the planned entertainment

Local attractions

Can’t keep your eyes off the sea views? Pick up the South West Coast Path at the bottom end of the park, or head for favourite spots along the Jurassic Coast like West Bay (half an hour’s drive) and Lulworth Cove (35 minutes). The Isle of Portland (15 minutes) is also a great place for a walk, and it’s also got lots of watersports including windsurfing, coasteering and scuba diving. Weymouth (10 minutes) is another perennial favourite for its lovely sandy beach and attractions like the Sea Life Centre and Pirate Adventure Golf. You can also get to the town on two wheels by picking up the Weymouth Trail cycle route from the bridleway by the site (or follow the full nine-mile trail up into the hills…) Other options for days out nearby include Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical Gardens (15 minutes), Vurlands Animal Farm (20 minutes) or an arty afternoon at Sculpture By The Lakes (half an hour).
