What customers say
Friendly hosts, great views, peaceful stay. Good for exploring. Showers clean but dated. Uneven pitches, noisy road nearby, but spacious and welcoming. Many would return.

Liked It's a lovely site with a welcoming atmosphere, it was our first time staying there and we (family of 5) had a great time

From the manager: We are really pleased you had a good time with us, we do try and make everyone feel welcome.
We do have a lot of return visitors, they are a friendly bunch and a few were on site when you were here.
Look forward to seeing you again soon.
A great site AND good value for money.

Liked We stayed at Giants Head campsite because we were walking the Wessex Ridgeway with a relative and we were all so glad that we did. It could not have been a better location for this walk because the Wessex Ridgeway passes behind the campsite and I'm sure it would be a superb base for many other places to walk in Dorset. We had a lovely welcome from the owner Caroline who was always around the site if we needed to ask her any questions. Considering the site was packed and it was the middle of the school holidays, the site was clean, well organized and relatively quiet. Caroline kindly helped us to complete the final section of our weekend's walking by helping us with parking and we were extremely grateful for that. Prices were very competitive, the welcome pack was very informative, the showers were excellent and we were amazed with the phone and internet signal. One tip: Ask for a pitch closer to the entrance if you want a flat pitch.
Disliked No complaints. We really enjoyed our stay.

Liked The campsite owner kept a good eye on the site so everyone was well behaved and there was a very friendly atmosphere. The toilets and showers were always kept very clean, despite the site being busy at the height of the season. Lovely surroundings and good walks could be had from the site.

From the manager: We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. We do have a really friendly group, most who have stayed here many times over the years, they were really happy to help with your new tent !!
We are pleased to say that out temporary toilet block has now gone and our lovely new toilet block is open, just need a few final touch ups.
We are lucky to be in such a lovely polace with lots of great walks.
Look forward to seeing you all again very soon.

Liked Caroline was really helpful, even before our stay over email.
Kept very clean, the showers, toilets and daily bin emptying

From the manager: Really pleased you enjoyed your stay with us, we just want everyone to have an enjoyable stay with us.
We do keep on top of the cleaning and bins, so much easier to clean when it's done regularly thoughout the day. It will be even better when our new toilet block opens this week.
Look forward to seeing you again soon.
Not a site we would rush back to unfortunately

Liked Local walks into the village and across the hills were fantastic. Stunning scenery.
Village has 3 pubs very welcoming.
Owners have lots of maps for the local walks .
Disliked Pitches close together , felt on top of each other .
A lot of permanent pitch holders / residents.

From the manager: We are really sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us, when you were here you gave the impression that you were enjoying your time.
I am very surprised at your other comments,
Your pitch had no one around you at all, as it was a single pitch under the trees, which we gave you so you had shelter for your dog, and was away from the children's area.
The pitches which were closer together were family groups, the rest of the site had the required spacing between pitches.
We do have a lot of returning visitors on site, who leave their caravan with us during the summer months but we do not have any residential pitches, we are a touring site only.
If you want a quiet site it may be an idea to not go to a family site during the busiest time of the year, the school summer holidays.

Liked Friendly , quiet, beautifully maintained campsite. Basic facilities but impeccably clean. Helpful manager. Great location for what we needed.
Disliked Road next to campsite could be a little noisy and a little tricky to cross due to the speed.
Little confusion between staff on the final day regarding time needed to vacate pitch which made leaving a little hectic.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, we are so pleased you had a good stay with us. We just want everyne to have a great time here.
The road canbe a little busy but unfortunately there is nothing we can do to slow the traffic down, it is only a C road but is better then the main A352 through Cerne Abbas.
Sorry about the leaving time confusion, we have a check out time of 12.00pm and also a check in time of 12.00pm so if someone is later leaving and someone else arrives early it can be a little tight. 12.00pm is usually enough time for most to pack up.
Look forward to seeing you again.

From the manager: So pleased you enjoyed your stay with us.
Sorry about the 'haphazard amenities', but we are just at the final stages of refurbing our toilet block. Unfortunately it has taken a little longer than it should have done - had a bit of a delay with the original builders......
Look forward ro seeing you again soon.

Liked Good location for Dorchester and a Lidl an easy drive away. We has an amazing view and loved how easy the facilities were. Very friendly. Good area for kids to play.
Disliked Make sure you plan your route as we ended up going through cerne Abbas which was a mistake.

From the manager: Thank you for your review, so pleased you enjoyed your stay with here with us. The views are amazing especially on a clear day. We do have lots of space for the kids to play.
Some satnavs do give directions through Cerne Abbas as this is on the main A352, we are on the C12 which is a better road than the A352, it is the old Roman road from Bath to Weymouth and is very straight.
I hope everything goes to plan with your move. and hope to see you again soon.
Friendly welcome , well sign posted in the road.

Ice cream van that visited.
Disliked Un-level pitch
un- clean and wet floored showers
wires all over the field.
Having to change £1 coins into old £1 coins from the office, get a key to use the laundry room, then having to return it once the wash was finished.

From the manager: We are very surprised to see your comments. You gave the impression that you were happy on site, you only had to speak to us if you were not.
We did give you a choice of pitches but you seemed to be happy with your pitch close to trees where you could put up your radio mast, if it wasn't suitable you only had to say.
Our showers are cleaned regularly during the day, but you cannot expect us to stand outside and dry the floor every time the shower is used. We have had several other comments this week saying how lovely our showers are.
I am sorry you had to come and change £1 coins for our £1 tokens, I think you will find most sites charge for their laundry. The reason we issue a key so you can put your washing in and no one else will remove it, we have the odd complaint that washing has been taken out in the machine by someone else.
