  • Beautiful woodland campsite, a short walk from the popular village of Chagford.
  • Off-grid, quiet, spaced out pitches.
  • Bell tents provided, option for fire cooked food in the evenings, and bushcraft/foraging workshops during the day.
Westcott Woods offers beautiful off-grid camping in 10 acres of woodland, a short walk from the popular village of Chagford, in Dartmoor National Park. A quiet space with very few bookings taken each year. We operate for just one month of summer, offering a unique and personal experience for our guests. Fire cooked breakfast and supper is available from our outdoor kitchen, using delicious, locally sourced food, with foraged elements. Elderflower champagne, and cocktails with foraged botanicals are available at our fireside bar in the evening. Whatever the British summer throws at us, there is a place for guests to sit by the fire at all times, under a giant all-weather shelter. Much of our infrastructure is built from reclaimed and renovated materials, and guests are encouraged to minimise waste. We have a couple of compost toilets, a hot bucket shower (which everyone loves!), and an open quiet circle - a clearing amongst the trees for people to stargaze at night. Activities and workshops are available to book during the day: foraging walks, primitive pottery making, fire-by-friction, willow weaving, navigation training and guiding hiking for example.
