Quiet, basic and family-friendly

  • Quiet family-friendly site on a dairy farm with views over to Dartmoor
  • Just over a five-minute drive to Woolacombe beach and village
  • Less than 15 minutes from Ilfracombe Aquarium and surfing at Croyde
It might be the nifty location that draws you to Barn Park Campsite, a traditional park on a working farm just over five minutes’ drive from Woolacombe beach in Devon, but it’s the peaceful atmosphere and stunning views towards Dartmoor that will make sure you don’t want to leave… Set up as a relaxing space for families and couples, this site also welcomes dogs (and their responsible owners) for serene stays in an area where activities range from surfing, swimming and rockpooling on Devon’s northern beaches to golf, horse riding, walking and cycling in the leafy countryside. Settling in on a chair facing out towards the far-reaching views over fields of dairy cows is also a popular pastime at this pretty park... Busy afternoons touring complete, ask for a block to place your campfire on and get the flames going – blazes are permitted at this park as long as they’re not lit right on the grass – and warm yourself up enough to crack open a few cans of beer bought from Woolacombe’s small supermarket a five-minute drive (or 40-minute walk) away. The village also has restaurants, pubs, a pasty shop and a couple of fish and chip takeaways if you fancy a meal or a light bite. If you’re flexing your culinary skills at the site, Barn Park has basic but clean facilities including a washing-up sink and a drinking water tap. It’s also got a toilet block with women and men’s loos plus washbasins with hot water and a shower room.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The campsite was very clean and spacious and in a fantastic area. Everything we could’ve possibly wanted and more was a short drive away. Barn Park Campsite definitely provide more than enough for a comfortable, pleasant and overall amazing stay. An added bonus was the cows we absolutely loved seeing the cows and despite them being there there was no poo smell at all. There was very good and quick communication for our query aswell which is always great and solutions were made almost instantly. Very pleasant and kind staff aswell which is always nice.

Disliked Nothing

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely quiet site with plenty of space for our pitch - good location for days on the beach
Obviously well looked after site with most pitches seeming to be given breathing space between bookings
Toilet facilities were decent and watching the cows in the next field provided the entertainment

Disliked We felt bad having to leave our rubbish by the bin area before the bins were returned from emptying but with 3 hours on the m5 in the hot weather to face, we didn't have many options!

Local attractions

The award-winning Woolacombe beach with its three miles’ worth of golden sands and lifeguards on duty is the main local attraction when staying at this park but it’s not the only scenic shoreline within easy access... As you face the sea, Barricane beach is to the right of Woolacombe – wander over here to see the seashells washed up on the shoreline from the Caribbean. A hut sells ice creams, tea, coffee, cakes and light lunches to munch on and Sri Lankan curries are served here some evenings. Keep walking on for quieter Combesgate and Grunta beaches (an hour on foot from the site altogether) or get in the car and drive to Croyde for surfing and Rockham Bay for seal spotting, both around 10 minutes away. Kids had enough of the beach but want to check out some animals? The Ilfracombe Aquarium and Exmoor Zoo are less than 20 minutes and a half an hour drive respectively. If you’re visiting midweek, falconry and sheepdog displays are organised at a farm five minutes away from the site.
