  • Well-maintained site in the South Hams, two miles from the coast
  • A 10-minute drive from Dartmouth; half an hour from Dartmoor
  • On a working farm with a country pub a mile away
Quarry Lake Camping has simple but well-maintained pitches on a working Devon sheep farm in the stunning South Hams, with far-reaching views towards the local fishing town of Dartmouth and Slapton Sands. This peaceful rural site is a top spot for those aiming to get out for walks or bike rides – the South West Coast Path is two miles away (as is Blackpool Sands beach for those who’d rather spend time paddling, swimming or kayaking) and it’s about a half-hour drive to the trails of Dartmoor National Park. As well as those big names, there are plenty of places to stroll closer to home around the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Such outings should give you a bit of a taste of rural life – and there’s more of that around the farm, where you’ll look out over fields of sheep and cows and may well spot a good amount of wildlife (along with resident dog Angus bounding around the place). A country pub is a mile away for dinners and drinks (and a play park for smaller guests), and there are more places to eat 10 minutes’ drive away in Dartmouth – along with shops to pick up bits for your barbecue. Back on site, guests are provided with portable toilets and mains water for washing up, but it’s worth noting that there’s no drinking water so you’ll want to bring your own along. There are also a couple of hot showers a specially converted trailer.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Great host, welcomed us and even took the time to show my 3 year old the cows on site. Toilets are clean and hot water available to shower and wash cooking items. Short drive to Dartmouth and Blackpool Sands

Disliked Not a fault of the campsite but the sat nav takes you on some proper single lane country roads so be prepared to stay alert on your drive in

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Lovely quiet field with sunset view and picturesque rolling hills.
Portaloo toilets and basic dishwashing station.

A nice horse box converted to two separate showers with nice hot water.

This isn’t a sandals resort by any means, but it does what it says on the tin. A nice place to pitch up for the night near the Devon coast.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked Lovely quiet site on top of hill. Great views. Could be quite windy. Basic but very clean. 2 portaloos, 2 very large showers with hot water. 1 washing up sink under shelter. Light switches in all facilities. No separate drinking water tap. Friendly farmer who popped over to clean regularly. Narrow lanes (of course) Dartmouth and coastal walks very close.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We had a great stay at Quarry Lake campsite. The field was very well kept and clean, with plenty of options for flat pitches. The campsite is in a lovely peaceful quiet area but close enough to local amenities. The toilets and showers were perfect for what we needed - clean, and well maintained. The showers were lovely and hot with good pressure. Both the toilets and showers had good lighting. It was great to have hot water for washing up. The owner was really friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back to stay again and recommend this campsite.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Ben, the farmer/owner - he was a great host! We liked that the site was on a working farm (the cows were great!) and the simplicity (portaloo and converted cow trailer for hot showers)! It was a beautiful field! Thank you so much Ben! P.s. There was no wifi, but we put all *'s rating as we liked that!
