Great views
Great-sized level pitches
Lots of space
A new outside shower, a wetsuit wash, and a sunny, private drying area.

  • Well-established family-friendly site in the centre of Croyde
  • A short walk from Croyde's beach, surf schools, shops and pubs
  • Peaceful site with large, level pitches and communal freezers
Ah, Croyde – the mere mention of this lovely little village is liable to perk up the ears of surfer types, who’ve no doubt heard about the splendid waves around this corner of Devon. Those same surfer types (along with those who’d like to learn the art of standing up on water, and anyone else that’s keen on the coast) should also find their ears pricking up at the offerings of Camping @ Croyde Bay, a friendly site in the village centre. The waters at Croyde beach, around 400 metres away, are famed as being fab for both keen surfers and novices, and that also makes this area a top pick for family holidays. The well-established site is a family-friendly place too, in a spot that’s easily walkable to the village’s shops and pubs but quiet enough for a good night’s kip. Facilities include purpose-built toilets and showers, and a much-loved ladies' dressing room with a mirror, power points, hair dryers and hair straighteners. There is an additional hot outdoor shower for sandy wetsuits, a drying area, plenty of fresh drinking water and a washing-up area for dealing with dishes. Guests can also use the communal freezers and mobile phone charging points. As for the local area, it’s not all about Croyde: Putsborough beach (another corker) is also within walking distance, and it’s a couple of miles to Saunton for more sandy times and a gorgeous golf course.

What customers say

This well-run, clean site boasts excellent facilities, including a praised vanity area. Guests love the fantastic location, a short walk to Croyde village and beach. Friendly, helpful staff and tidy, well-sized pitches are a highlight. Minor points include occasional village noise and a wish for more toilets at peak times. Many plan return visits.

Power optional grass campervan, trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked Great location. Nice short walk to village or in the other direction to the beach. Nice clean site. Not too big. Good sized pitch even with awning. Toilet blocks are fab! Nice touch with the hairdryers and straighteners! Lovely friendly people who run it.

Disliked Nothing.

Power optional grass tent campsite

Liked The pitch size was good and marked out well. With a space to have the car right by the pitch.
Great facilities, the washing up area woth 4 bekfast sinks, proper dish racks and free washing up.liquid was great. A good amount of toilets and showers for the number of pitches, you dont have to que for long. Showers consistently running and hot.
All round incredibly clean and tidy site
All the little rabbits on site where lovely too. Made a 3am wee fun spotting all the white tails dotted around the place!

Disliked Freezer didn't work as well as hoped, putting four freezer packs in for 24hr and they came out cool rather than frozen. Might be due to lots of people opening it up lots, but maybe coukd be more efficient.
Also not anything the site can do, but Saturday night was very noisy with music and crowd noise from bars in the village. Bring ear plugs and your golden!

From the manager: Thank you for your great 10 out of 10 review.
I will turn down the temperature on the freezers now. That is an easy fix.
The music from the village hall on Saturday night was a one off.
Thanks again.

Power optional grass campervan, trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked This is a wonderful campsite, and I recently had a great stay there.

The location is excellent as it is 5 minutes from the Village, and 10 minutes walk to the Beach.

The site is very well maintained. The Toilets, Showers and Washing-Up facilities are clean and more than adequate for the size of the campsite. They even provide you with washing-up liquid and wi-fi free of charge.

I like that the site is noise free from Electrical devices so, remember to pack earphones/headphones if you want to listen to Music or your TV.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The owner Stu is great as well.

I would highly recommend this site, and definitely intend to visit again in the future.

Power optional grass campervan, trailer tent or tent campsite

Liked Quiet and friendly site. I was welcomed and I found it reassuring that the gates are locked at night (you can get out in an emergency). Level pitches and clean facilities, freezer and microwave available to use for free. Great location too. Short walk both to Croyde village and to the beach.

Power optional grass campervan or trailer tent campsite (maximum 6 metres)

Liked Lovely site. Small but plenty of space. Lots of amenities on site including free eclectic in reception for charging, freezers and sponges and dish soap for free.

Well maintained and very clean facilities. Young lady who works on site was really helpful on arrival and polite.

The wild rabbits are nice to see roaming the site too.
Walk to the beach isn’t far. Follow the road and it’s right there. 10 minutes if that. Beach itself is lovely too and worth visiting.

Some pitches are directly off the road and traffic and people can be heard but not really a problem. Majority is likely people leaving the beach in the evening.

Disliked Nothing.

Local attractions

So… the beach? Thought so. Croyde’s one of those fab places that’s equally good for a paddle, a swim or a surf. Experienced boarding types can usually find some good waves down here, and there are shallower sections where newbies can find their feet (with the help of one of the village’s surf schools, ideally). For a rest from the waves, take a walk out to Baggy Point (about 45 minutes on foot), join a game at the village’s beach volleyball school or drive for 10 minutes to the rural pursuits at Borough Farm Sheepdog and Falconry Displays. Alternatively, make it all about the sea with a coasteering day from Croyde, a ride on the beach at Woolacombe or a sea safari from Ilfracombe (both 15 minutes’ drive). The beaches at Putsborough and Saunton Sands are both about five minutes’ drive away and there are some cracking walks to be had on the South West Coast Path around here too.
