  • Family-run campsite in the small village of Gwithian
  • Under a mile from the South West Coast Path; Hayle four miles
  • Utility corner with charging facilities and a communal fridge
It's got sand, it's got a pub, it's got rockpools and it's got surfing – all in all, Gwithian's a pretty groovy spot. Set in a quiet part of the village under a mile from the beach and the South West Coast Path, Prosper House Camping is a family-run campsite close to some of the best bits of Cornwall's north coast. Prosper House Camping is a laidback, no-frills site, where a small number of pitches creates a chilled, intimate atmosphere. Toilets and hot showers are provided, as well as a small utilities corner with handy charging facilities and a communal fridge that guests are free to use. Although the views here look out over surrounding farmland, Prosper House Camping is under 100 feet from the village pub and 20 minutes' walk from two popular seaside cafés. There's decent public transport here too, with buses that can get you into Hayle in roughly 20 minutes for when you need a supermarket, railway station or just fancy a change of scene. Since opening in 2016, Prosper House Camping has had lots of satisfied customers, with some guests coming back year after year. If you like old-style camping in peaceful grounds where the kids can play freely and you can huddle around a firepit in the evening, this could be the place for you.

Reuben's Cube shepherd's hut

Liked We stayed in Ruebens cube and found this to be great for our needs as a last minute trip with minimal planning.

The quaint back to earth nature of the site is lovely, it's basic, but clean and has an intimate atmosphere as it's a fairly small field.

I had one query about equipment in the 'cube' and a quick text to the owners was answered quickly and sorted.

Facilities are basic but work well, hot showers with good pressure and clean toilets, add in the phone charging points and fridge freezer with enough capacity to store your milk and refreeze your cool blocks and this is a well served camp site.

Rules where followed with minimal noise or disruptions and everyone was settled in for a quiet night in the evening and a good sleep was possible.

Beach is close by, either walk or use the car parks and it's a short drive to Hayle for shops.

The beach is truly fab, a couple of cafes and a surf academy which are all excellent. I think it's actually 2 beaches seperate by a rocky outcrop.

I'd imagine the cube is designed for couples, as a father and teenage son we managed with one in the double bed and a makeshift camp bed on the floor which just about fit so long as you're not too tall, I'm 5ft 8. I chose the cube option as I didn't want the hassle of putting up a big tent with my son.

There is a double burner and a nifty cadac bbq all gas powered and all the cooking equipment you could need for cooking just about anything.

There is very little phone signal here, you can decide if that's a good thing or not.
5G is ample in other areas, near the beach or near Hayle for instance.

Pub is a stones throw away and has good ales and food, all reasonable prices, it's popular so booking is advised. Nice looking beer graden too.

I would definitely stay again and am already considering when to book, will probably be a camping pitch next time.

Disliked Having to leave to go back to the 'real' world, we could have stayed forever!

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (pet friendly)

Liked Nice little campsite with all you need, good size pitches, nice to have a bench.

Disliked Toilets were very dark even in the day, showers had good light but could do with extending the lights to the toilets, does say to bring lights so we did but having them inside would be good or a window in the ceiling to let day light in be good.
Not much you could do to change the location but the wall to the beach wasn’t ideal with a two year old, felt unsafe wouldn’t of got a pram down there so had to carry little one as no way would he be able to walk.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (pet friendly)

Liked Good sized pitches. Over grown grass edges divides each pitch so you have your own space. shed with fridge/freezer, kettle and charging points.

Disliked Toilets & showers could do with updating. A bit too rustic for me. But they are cleaned regularly.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (pet friendly)

Liked Quiet and relaxing,as just the single field without too many pitches, used all other sites within gwithian village and prefer this one for so many reasons, those stays have been over a 20 year period

Disliked When pitches were all occupied with groups a long wait for use of shower/toilet facilities, only a few times.really do need some hot water for washing up,but that’s it.

Primitive grass tent or RV campsite (pet friendly)

Liked Throughly enjoyed my time here! Lovely pitches and well maintained facilities. The campsite had a nice chilled out feel, and I very much enjoyed the company of the friendly cats, dog and chickens on the site. There was a lot of good information regarding the local area to be found, and the communal fridge was very useful for storing perishables.

Would highly recommend, and look forward to visiting again the future!
