  • Cosy, eco-friendly safari tents on the Rame Peninsula in Cornwall
  • A couple minutes' drive from the beach; Looe 25 minutes' drive
  • Secure decking with a firepit; complimentary breakfast hamper provided
Set on the stunning Cornwall coast, Tregantle Farm Glampsite strikes an excellent balance between luxury glamping and seaside adventures. This sophisticated eco retreat with plush safari tents is set in scenic Freathy, just a couple minutes' drive away from the nearest beach. It also has private access to the beach on foot with just a 10- to 15-minute walk. At the end of a country lane, this quiet corner of the county is surrounded by characterful fishing villages, sandy beaches and peaceful country footpaths (including dog walks) but is still within easy reach of cities like Plymouth (half an hour's drive) and popular seaside resort towns like Looe (25 minutes). From your plush safari tent, fall asleep to the gentle lull of distant waves and then wake up to a delicious, homemade and locally sourced breakfast hamper delivered to you free of charge. The comfortable tents each have two private bedrooms and a spacious living area warmed by a cosy woodburner. On the gated decking, unwind at the comfortable outdoor seating underneath the eco-friendly solar lights. A firepit is included for alfresco meals, or to keep you cosy and warm on those chillier coastal evenings. Conveniently for dog owners, the decking is also a secure space where all of you (furry or not) can unwind under the stars on cloudless nights. The site also provides complimentary dog treats.

Ebb & Flow bell tent

Liked: Beds - so comfy and amazing to sleep in a real bed with beautiful bed linens. Makes a difference if you’ve traveled far to get there!
Kitchen - better than my own in Tokyo!
Location - handy for beaches and getting around
The breakfast baskets and cream tea on arrival were fantastic
Michele - extremely lovely and helpful

Disliked: Woken by practice shooting at 5am one of the mornings - was a bit disorientating and should be noted if you have young children or sensitive adults. I believe this only happens occasionally but would bring ear plugs just in case and the bell tent is very bright in the morning so an eye mask could also useful.

Local attractions

The Rame Peninsula is well-located for city day trips to Plymouth (30 minutes' drive), where you can browse big-brand shops, explore Hoe Park and take in the coastal views or head to the National Marine Aquarium to learn more about the secretive aquatic creatures that live offshore. Plymouth also has cinemas, bowling and the gorgeous Tinside Lido, an open-air swimming pool in a scenic coastal location. For more beaches, Whitsand Bay (five minutes) is a seven-mile sandy arc that's backed by gorgeous footpaths, all of which is just down the road from the twin fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand (both 10 minutes). Staying on the peninsula, you could explore the green grounds and sea views at Mount Edgcumbe House and Country Park (15 minutes) or the rugged coastline around St Michael's Chapel on Rame Head (10 minutes). Lots of major Cornish attractions are also within reach, whether you're heading for the old fishing village of Looe (25 minutes), the giant geodesic domes at the Eden Project (50 minutes), Bodmin Moor (30 minutes) or Tintagel Castle (an hour and 15 minutes).
