  • Smart on-site caravans at a 32-acre garden attraction near St Austell
  • Five minutes' drive to the Eden Project or Carlyon Bay beach
  • Private facilities in each caravan; access to the gardens after hours
If you’re in the habit of visiting gorgeous gardens while you’re on holiday, at some point while wandering around you’ve probably sighed and thought ‘I’d like to live here’. Well, now you can, at least for a while… because the team at Cornwall’s Pinetum Gardens have opened up some on-site accommodation to allow guests to immerse themselves fully in this fabulous setting. There are 32 acres of well-maintained gardens here, and you’ll have the run of the place at all hours, allowing you to savour a misty morning over the lake before the day’s visitors arrive as well as enjoying the twilight hours as the sun sets. You won’t be completely alone, of course – you’re likely to spot the resident ducks waddling about as you sip your morning coffee, and to hear the birds singing in the trees. Sometimes you’ll even have a visit from the local deer… and there are also staff on hand to help you out if you need anything. Each of the on-site caravans here has been smartly kitted out with heating and plenty of furnishings to keep you cosy and comfortable. The caravans have their own bathrooms and kitchens (with cooker, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster), plus outdoor furniture to help you soak up your surroundings. Dogs are welcome to join you for your stay here too. Once you’ve explored your garden getaway fully, you’ll be able to get out and about to see what else the area has to offer – perhaps popping in to St Austell (five minutes’ drive), heading to one of the local beaches or comparing your digs with some of the other garden attractions nearby.

Local attractions

If you’ve booked a stay here it’s likely you’re quite a fan of plant life… so you may also like to visit the Eden Project (five minutes' drive) and the Lost Gardens of Heligan (15 minutes) or take a tour of the vineyards at Knightor Winery (10 minutes). Of course, in Cornwall you’re never that far from the coast – and here your nearby seaside options include sandy Carlyon Bay beach (five minutes), the slightly wilder Porthpean beach (10 minutes) and the popular fishing village of Fowey (15 minutes). Charlestown Harbour (five minutes) is a good place to get a sense of what the area might have looked like in the past, and it’s a good place to pick up the South West Coast Path for a seaside walk too. For family activities, try the adrenaline activities at Hangloose Adventure and the games at Cornwall FootballGolf Park (both five minutes) or set off to Screech Owl Sanctuary & Animal Park (25 minutes) and Giant Slip Slide Cornwall (half an hour).
