  • Quiet back-to-basics site on a working farm in Illogan
  • Golf course, trampoline park and watersports lake within 20 minutes
  • 10 minutes' walk from village pubs and 45 from Portreath beach
A working farm on the edge of a Cornwall village, with easy access to country footpaths and a 45-minute saunter from the beach… the kind of place one could settle in for a lifetime, eh? The folks at Hillcrest Views Campsite certainly think so – the family set up home here over 80 years ago and haven’t budged since. Current owner Amy’s now welcoming guests to share in her tribe’s special spot while making sure it doesn’t lose its peaceful vibe – thus the small site has pleasingly spacious pitches but only basic amenities. Flick through the pics and you’ll note some gorgeous rural views: a fab backdrop for stoking up a barbecue while the kids race about playing games. Admire those views for a bit and you’ll probably think you’re in the middle of nowhere, so it’s pleasing to remember that you’re a mere 10-minute amble from Illogan village and its pub, shops and chippy (plus a pasty shop, of course – a staple in these parts). If you’re doing DIY dins, supermarket supplies for your meals can be picked up in Redruth, 10 minutes’ drive away. You could spend many a day wandering on local trails and beaches, but if you’ve brought the kids it’s handy to know that you’re less than 15 minutes’ drive from all sorts of family attractions, including a castle, a trampoline park and a watersports centre. It’s also just a mile or so to the A30 for those looking to head to more far-flung attractions like St Ives or the Eden Project.

What customers say

Highly recommended, clean, well-kept site with spacious, private, hedged pitches. Staff are friendly, facilities great (powerful showers!). Lovely views. Some noise from nearby businesses & light timer quirks. Perfect base for Cornwall.

Mike H.

Power optional grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Fabulous location with easy access to Portreath/Godrevy and other locations in West Cornwall.
The site isn't sign posted but directions were detailed and spot on - a good welcome on arrival.
A great balance of sheltered pitches but open site, giving far reaching views.
Basic facilities but cleaned regularly. Family appreciated the double showers and the provision of detergent at washing sinks was a nice touch.
I like to move around, see different things but will certainly return.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much Mike for your custom and your comprehensive review. We are really pleased you have enjoyed the simplicity of what we have to offer and the surrounding area. We do have a freezer available for use upon request as its currently in our office barn at the moment until we finish the new walkway. I'm sorry this information didn't reach you but thank you for the feedback as I can address this. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your summer and year!

It's been such a pleasure having you both on site again and we very much look forward to seeing you back again next summer. Disliked If its windy

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you very much for your kind reflections and your custom. We are really pleased you enjoyed our site and I hear you with the wind. Being hilltop we get the best of all weathers. The well developed hedging on all pitches now this really does help with this including with the shade on really hot days too. We hope you have a wonderful rest of your trip and wish you all the best for the rest of your year!

Coming from Redruth, enter Illogan coming up a large hill. At the brow of the hill you will see two chapels opposite one another. Take it slowly here, as the site is 50 yards further on, on the right-hand side opposite a little crossroad sign for Richards Lane. Look out for a concrete lane with central grass verge between two white cottages; this leads up to the site.
