  • Scenic and award-winning site filled with flowers
  • Two lakes for coarse fishing plus nature reserve
  • Heated pool, crazy golf, playgrounds, games room and licensed shop
This fabulously floral site has been giving a warm welcome for more than 50 years. The grounds are blooming lovely – even the fishing lakes are filled with lilies – and it’s easy to see why Trevella Holiday Park is a regular winner of the Newquay in Bloom contest, and why so many people come back here every summer. Little buds can shoot around the heated outdoor pool, paddling pool, crazy golf, games room and playgrounds for different ages. There’s free coarse fishing in the two lakes and a pretty nature reserve to explore and a licensed shop. The roomy pitches sit within handsome parkland and the high-quality amenities include family bathrooms, baby changing and a laundry room.

Ensuite camping pod

Liked: Can’t think of anything 😅

Disliked: My confirmation email & checking in email stated that check in time was between 4-6:30pm (we were staying in a glamping pod with en-suite), however I received a phone call from reception just before 5pm (on check in day) to say reception closed at 5pm so we were supposed to check in before then. As we weren’t there before reception closed at 5pm they left the key in the door to the pod. When we arrived to the pod (at around 5:30pm) the beds weren’t made. There were duvets & pillows with the duvet covers and pillow cases there for you to put on yourself. The pod also absolutely stank of piss but reception was closed so nothing we could do about it. There was also a rather threatening note from reception left in the pod to say to make sure that we thoroughly clean the pod ourselves & empty the bins etc before leaving otherwise they will take legal action against us to recover cleaning charges. Not exactly the letter you want to be reading when arriving on a holiday that you’ve been looking forward to. They don’t actually leave you any cleaning products though! The grass was dragged in from outside where the grass had been cut but there’s no broom. Just a dustpan & brush so you’re obviously expected to go on your hands & knees to sweep up the floor with that. There was no kettle or anything in the pod either. The en-suite bathroom doesn’t even have hand soap at the sink or a towel or dryer to dry your hands. I think it would be far better to have the option to pay a little extra to have the bed made ready on arrival & to provide hand soap next to the sink with a towel, and a kettle in the room with a few sachets of coffee, sugar, milk & tea (same as a standard hotel room). I just think that when arriving on your holiday after a long drive, the last thing you want to do is be making up beds. Especially if you have kids with you. There is also no storage in the pods at all. No drawers or anything or anywhere to store your clothes & belongings. Would be nice to have some hooks on the wall to hang a coat at least. Also if you want WiFi then you have to pay (a lot) for it! Really wouldn’t recommend.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Clean facilities, flat pitch, grass well kept, they let us pitch up early

Disliked: No where to put bags/ dry clothes when in the shower, I had to leave it outside the cubical and only take in my wash bag and towel in, however my partner used another shower block and said that was much better with a separate area

Powered grass campsite

Liked: The site was very clean and well maintained, lovely shower blocks and toilet facilities, always clean n smelt fresh. Grass nice n short. Staff very friendly and approachable. Shop had almost everything that was needed and good prices. Loved the look of the Piskie Inn, was very quaint, Piskie Food van provided a good selection of meals at reasonable prices.

Disliked: Shop could've been open longer (9-6pm only)and so cud the Piskie Food Van (6.30-7.30pm - not every day). Some of the staff were a little fast on the "trucks" that travel around the park.

Local attractions

A quick meander along the verdant country lanes and pathways around Trevella can lead in various directions: a historic smugglers’ inn, a beach, Crantock’s thatched cottages and pretty village church, or to the Gannel estuary to fish, paddle, birdwatch or make the short hop on the ferry to Newquay. The latter probably needs no introduction, but on top of its famous beaches, it has a zoo, aquarium, farm park, boating lake and miniature railway – plus swimming pools (with flumes) and golf courses. This being Cornwall, visitors will find no shortage of ace attractions less than an hour away. Recommendations include losing oneself in the gardens at Heligan, taking in an atmospheric show at the open-air Minack Theatre, on the cliffs overlooking the sea; heading into the Eden Project’s massive crater, to examine the exotic flora in the jaw-dropping megadomes; and some painterly perusal at the Tate Gallery in St Ives. Then there are adventure parks, National Trust properties and open gardens galore; plus a lively programme of local land- and sea-based events, from festivals to carnivals, and regattas to traditional Cornish gig racing.
