What customers say

This well-maintained campsite boasts a prime location near Newquay and Perranporth. Guests rave about the fantastic pool, helpful staff, and spotless, spacious sites. While mostly quiet and family-friendly with good value, some found restrooms dated or lacking. On-site attractions like the arcade weren't always open.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Everything was really good. Great location, good facilities and lovely, helpful staff.. especially Sarah (I think - General manager?!)
We would recommend this holiday park and we would stay here again!
The ONLY small thing I’d say is the toilets and showers in the camping area were not the cleanest (but I am very fussy)!!

Nice place with good pitches, but needs a bit more management effort.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Lots of space, grass nice and flat. Showers had lots of hot water and no timer! Hot water for dish washing. Didn’t really use the facilities

Disliked Showers got dirty and messy, water pooled on the floor. Launderette completely useless, nothing worked there.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked The staff onsite were really helpful and friendly.

Pitches were flat and generous.

The indoor pool was superb & the kids absolutely loved it!

The cost of a 6 night stay was incredibly cheap.

Disliked I feel awful posting this but I have to be honest:

The facilities (5 portacabin style units) were truly awful; the shower units in some of them were absolutely tiny and it was difficult to keep things dry. Showering multiple children was a real challenge, and we ended up using them super early to avoid queuing - until we worked out that it was actually easier to book a session in the pool & use the pool showers instead...

Despite being cleaned regularly, the showers and toilets were still absolutely filthy. I can't imagine what staying here is like when the site is near full. Luckily we had our own porta-potty, and I wish we'd taken our shower tent & shower along with us.

Like some sort of cruel joke, there was no way to tell which units were occupied - you had to just try the handle - meaning anyone inside was probably startled.

Washing up facilities were two knackered sinks that people often used for brushing teeth or washing their faces. The only source of drinking water was a single tap next to the washing up basins; these basins were also completely uncovered, so if it was raining, you got wet.

Dogs were allowed to roam freely, off lead. We saw several dogs defecating near our tent. I spent quite a bit of time warning other people's kids to stay away from the poo (lol!).

The kid's playground was also pretty poor - old, partly broken and looking shabby.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Fab location, 10mins to perranporth and 15 to Crantock with Goonhaven village less than a 3 min drive.
Swimming pool was free to use, just had to book it on the day, it was clean and spacious.
Entertainment for the children was fab and nice pub area.
Clean toilets with heating in them and 2 fully working showers.
2 huge camping fields with access to water and natural wind breaks in 2nd field (hedges in middle of field etc).
Quiet. Peaceful. Hardly any light pollution so grate for star gazing. Fire bits and bbq permitted (so long as raised off floor).
Rubbish free (saw a litter picker constantly) so the grounds are well maintained.
Children's playground also on site.

Disliked 1 of the showers is super small so cannot get changed in that one, so you have to run back to your tent. But that's literally it.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Really nice, well maintained site with friendly staff. Nice play area, bar and swimming pool. Had nice walks around the sight which was clean and tidy.

Disliked No enforcement of dogs on lead rule or quiet / curfew hours. Family on site with dog running loose all the time, littering, shouting, swearing and playing football outside tents until close to midnight. Seems a regular issue on this site from reading previous reviews. That’s the only issue we had, if the staff were firmer with the few inconsiderate visitors that disregard other campers it would be 10/10

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Nice location, close to some main beaches. Friendly staff.

Disliked We didn’t have the best experience at this holiday park, seems to be full of people who are very new to camping looking for a cheap holiday with little respect to the other people there. On the first night of our stay there was a huge group of adults having a party until 2am blasting music, and children playing football on our pitch yelling and using foul language until 1am. Wasn’t a peaceful stay in the slightest. When reporting the next day the staff expressed sympathy however, made no effort to go and confront the individuals about their behaviour. A man was drunk and passed out on the floor for hours and nobody went to go and speak to him. Bare in mind this was a family holiday park.

Furthermore, the toilet and shower facilities weren’t the cleanest and very small.

Local attractions

There’s plenty to please all tastes around here, such as coarse fishing at the nearby lakes; teeing off at Perranporth's 18-hole golf course; horse riding at Reen Manor and surf lessons nearby for beginners. For a shopping day, shop in the cathedral city of Truro, eight miles from Newperran: the Pannier Market is the biggest in the area and farmers’ markets are at Lemon Quay on Wednesdays and Saturdays as well as food, drink, art and craft fairs held on the quay on various Saturdays. Newquay is even closer than Truro – about five miles away – and Perranporth beach is just two miles away; both are top surfing beaches and surf schools and surf shops are on hand for the newly wetsuited. If you prefer messing about on land, there’s plenty to do out of the water too: most Cornish villages have flower and music festivals at some point in the summer and there are carnival and regatta weeks regularly held in the bigger towns. From Newperran you’ll be within easy driving distance of most of the top attractions of this part of Cornwall such as the Tate Gallery at St Ives, the clifftop Minack Theatre at Porthcurno and, going north, King Arthur’s haunt Tintagel and the prettiness of Port Isaac. Sticking closer to Newquay, it’s not all about the surf: Newquay Zoo and its hundreds of species is tickety-boo for a family day out, and the award-winning DairyLand Farmworld is right on for rainy days with a humongous indoor play area alongside tractor rides, a nature trail and farm animals. Fisher folk can get their hook on at shoals of sea, lake and river fishing around Newquay and Cornwall: as well as the discounted coarse fishing near Newperran Holiday Park, try angling for some time fishing from Newquay Harbour where there are also boats for hire and sea safari trips to see the Newquay grey seals. Or just pack a picnic and take to your feet for hikes and strolls around the Cornish countryside and coast: start from Newquay’s Trenance Gardens and meander along the River Gannel to Crantock; hike the headlands from Newquay Golf Club, or take a promenade from Perranporth to St Agnes to take in some mining history. The South West Coast Path has a 12-mile walk from Newquay to Perranporth, crossing famed Fistral Beach.
